maltatoday | SUNDAY • 29 DECEMBER 2019 21 COMMERCIAL 15 Corporate Social Responsibility training courses in sustainability THE Energy and Water Agency will be organising a number of one-day sus- tainability training courses aimed at employees from the corporate sector. These training courses shall be run- ning monthly till June 2020 and the courses are free of charge, with the first session planned for the 9th of January, 2020. The aim of the one-day training course, entitled Energy, Water and Waste Solutions: Supporting Malta's Corporate Sector, is to offer a service to the corporate sector by means of an employee training programme, offering ideas on different sustain- ability solutions and thus instil a behavioural change. These courses also aim to create a positive impact on businesses through raising aware- ness on their role in suitability and promote more employee well-being. These courses will form part of a project, that will be conducted over 2 phases, with the first phase being the training course. The involvement and support from senior manage- ment is key for behavioural change in the workplace. Therefore it would be beneficial to have them roped in as stakeholders from the onset of this project, leading on to phase two. During phase two of the project, fol- low up work will be conducted with the attendees of the one-day sustain- ability training course, by means of an action plan and a sustainability diary. The main remit of the Energy and Water Agency (EWA) is the formu- lation and implementation of na- tional policies in the energy and wa- ter sectors. The EWA is entrusted with delivering national projects and the empowerment of key stakehold- ers to implement such projects. The launch for the Energy, Wa- ter and Waste Solutions: Support- ing Malta's Corporate Sector will be on the 9th January 2020 at GĦAJN: the National Water Conservation Awareness Centre, in Rabat. Spac- es are still available for the afore mentioned date, and the subse- quent dates. Bookings can be done by contacting Amanda Zahra on amanda.b.zahra@gov.mt, and more information can be found on the Agency's website through energywa- teragency.gov.mt/csr-training AS part of Knorr's Corporate Social Responsibility programme, children at St Joseph's Home, a facil- ity which provides out-of-home care to boys, were treated to a mouthwatering lunch cooked by Knorr's Brand Ambassador, Chef Sean Gravina. As a charity, the home depends on the generosity of the Maltese public to continue it's mission; and such out-of-home activitation fitted the narrative perfectly. "These boys get to face adult life too soon, but ul- timately they are still growing up and need all the attention and care they deserve. We felt that we needed to help them out. Seeing the boys' faces af- ter being served some freshly prepared baguettes and a mouthwatering lasagne after coming back from school was simply priceless," commented Chef Sean Gravina, who also chatted with the staff and children on how to eat a balanced diet and how to cater for these kids with affordable ingredients. St Joseph's Home is a facility which provides care to boys by supporting them through difficult times. The home provides individualised care to youngsters through the development of professional and effec- tive relationships whilst assisting them in their every day needs, including their homework and studies as well as after school activities. Knorr forms part of the Unilever portfolio of food brands imported and distributed locally by M&Z (Marketing) Ltd. For more information on the local range visit www.knorr.com.mt. GreenPak Coop Society CEO Ing Mario Schem- bri presented the donation to the President of Malta H.E. Dr George Vella at San Anton Palace in Attard. The donation is in return to the number of plastic bottle caps collected for recycling during the 2019 campaign, which caps would have otherwise ended in Malta's landfill. HE President George Vella said "This initiative has two key objec- tives - to educate children on the protection of the environment and to make them aware of chari- table causes. I thank GreenPak for their yearly commitment to collect plastic bottle caps from schools and various entities, while I'm also grateful for their donation towards L-Istrina." Meanwhile, as part of its recy- cling commitment, GreenPak announced its daily night ser- vice schedule for the empty glass bottle collection from bars and restaurants in selected localities. This service has been extended to cover also Paceville and St George's Bay area. The service collects empty glass bot- tles and glass jars only. The daily service starts on Sat- urday 21st December 2019 from 01:00 hr and ends on Friday 2nd January 2020. It is held in collab- oration with the Local Councils of Gzira, Sliema and St Julians, together with the Cleansing Ser- vices Department. "We operate our own glass col- lections seven days a week from 1.00am during this busy period.
