1. What's been the most defining moment in your career so far? This would definitely be performing as the Hostess on board the Valiant Lady with Virgin Voyages. I got the chance to sing and dance whilst travelling across Europe and the Caribbean. The cherry on the cake was meeting Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin brand. 2. As a creative, how do you navigate the world and speed of social media? I believe that social media has become an essential part of any creative's life. It's not easy navigating through the ever-changing trends and keeping up with the algorithms. However, on the flip side, it's also a great tool to put yourself out there and really market yourself. It just takes consistency and constantly thinking outside the box which is great to be honest as it keeps you on your toes as a performer. 3. Do you consider artificial intelligence a threat to your career, or an opportunity? I think that AI is a double-edged sword to be quite honest. I think it's become a very useful tool as it can be very helpful to all creatives out there but at the same time, I feel that certain people are using it to replace hiring artists which is where the threat comes in. Having said that, I recently read an article on LinkedIn that struck a chord, it said something along the lines of AI will not take our jobs but people who can use AI to their advantage for their jobs will. 4. How do you stay motivated and inspired, especially during tough times or when the work feels hard? I think that our industry is the hardest indus- try out there. The competition is incredible and strengthens every year. I've gone to auditions where I was 7cm too tall or I felt like I did incredibly well to then get cut in the first round. One thing is to never stop working hard, keep going to classes and putting yourself out there. The 20 rejections that you get will make that one 'yes' so worth it. My mantra is always that everything that is meant for you won't pass you. I surround myself with a very good support system from family to friends to singing teachers and coaches, when I feel like giving up, I turn to them, have a good cry and get back on the saddle. 5. How do you balance your creative instincts with the expectations of your audience or collaborators? I believe that authenticity is always key in our industry. Yes, following a trend will get you an audience and more followers but being true to yourself whilst doing so is what will keep them there. 6. How do you approach a new project? Do you have a specific process or routine you follow? I'm an all-in or nothing kind of girl. If I'm working on something, it consumes my life. If it's a new song or a new show, I make sure I research the character, if there isn't one, I make up my own storyline. It's all about knowing what you're talking or singing about. I then learn the song properly, put my twist into it and just practice over and over. Once the work is done, you trust in it and you can have fun with it, give it life and just enjoy it. 7. Can you let us in on some of the future projects, works? At the moment, I'm working on content which I'm super excited to share with every- one. I am excited to start working on some new music as well. Stay tuned, there's a lot coming your way from me. maltatoday | SUNDAY • 16 NOVEMBER 2025 Music Experience an enchanting evening of romantic masterworks for strings PAGE 2 Theatre MADC's Snow White has it all! Is it a form of expression, therapy, or some- thing else? Music is all the above. It's a way to express yourself. It's a heightened emotion; it leads you to places that words can never reach. It's also definitely therapeutic, I have songs to sing when I'm sad and songs to sing when I'm happy. Music has gotten me through the best and worst times of my life. I am very grateful that I've been given this instrument and talent and that's why I will never give up on it! Edel is a Maltese singer and musical theatre performer, trained in the UK.
