The DVCO concert features German cellist Maximilian Hor- nung as Artist-in-Residence, performing Schumann's Cello Concerto under the baton of Karsten Januschke, one of Eu- rope's most compelling young conductors. The program al- so includes Suk's Serenade for Strings and Tchaikovsky's String Sextet Souvenir de Florence, a vibrant showcase of elegance and emotional depth. Recog- nized as one of the most distin- guished cellists of his generation, Hornung's artistry has graced the world's leading stages, from Berlin's Philharmonie and Am- sterdam's Concertgebouw to Vienna's Musikverein and Lon- don's Wigmore Hall. His collab- orations with luminaries such as Anne-Sophie Mutter, Daniil Trifonov, Hélène Grimaud, and Christian Tetzlaff highlight his rare versatility and international stature. Conductor Karsten Januschke adds distinction through his ex- tensive operatic and symphonic work across Europe's leading stages, from Berlin to Vienna. Praised for his natural authori- ty, communicative artistry, and expressive precision, Januschke has established himself as a lead- ing presence on both the oper- atic and symphonic stages. His international engagements have included appearances with the Semperoper Dresden, Volksoper Vienna, Komische Oper Berlin, Bavarian State Opera, and the National Theatre Prague, as well as concert performances with the MDR Symphony Orchestra, Deutsches Symphonie- Orches- ter Berlin, RSO Vienna, and the Budapest Philharmonic. Harmony of hope, a live concert in aid of cancer research FOLLOWING the success of the first two editions of the show Harmony of Hope, the University of Malta Research Trust (RIDT) presents the third edition of Harmony of Hope - The Classic Rock Edition, a live concert in aid of cancer research. The concert will take place on Friday, 21st Novem- ber at 7:30 p.m. at the Sir Temi Zammit Theatre, University of Malta, Tal-Qroqq. This family-friendly show is guaranteed to get everyone singing and clapping along throughout the evening. As the title suggests, this year's theme celebrates Rock Music. The concert will feature clas- sic and iconic rock hits that have shaped music history -songs from legendary bands such as Queen, Coldplay, KISS, Aerosmith, and Oasis, as well as works by solo artists like Prince, Tina Turner, Bryan Adams, Ozzy Osbourne, and many others. The performers taking part in this show are all well-known Maltese singers, some among the finest exponents of rock music in Malta.
