6 COMMERCIAL maltatoday | SUNDAY • 19 JULY 2026 Malta Communications Authority benchmark confirms Epic as Malta's best network, two years running Epic wins again EPIC has once again been ranked Malta's highest-per- forming mobile network in the latest nationwide benchmark commissioned by the Malta Communications Authorit y (MCA), retaining the number one position for a second con- secutive assessment. Conducted independently by Systemics PAB, the benchmark evaluated the performance of Malta's three mobile network operators across approxi- mately 1,500 kilometres of testing throughout Malta and Gozo. The assessment meas- ured the services consumers rely on every day, including voice calls, web browsing, file downloads and uploads, video streaming, and internet-based calling through apps such as WhatsApp. Epic ranked first overall, outperforming competing op- erators and confirming Epic's position as Malta's top-per- forming network for the sec- ond consecutive benchmark. Epic recorded the fastest download and upload speeds in the country, along with the best performance for everyday internet-based calls and mes- saging through apps such as WhatsApp. The company also recorded the most consistent scores of any operator across all regions of Malta and Gozo, with particularly strong per- formance in Gozo, delivering the strongest performance of the three operators. The results also point to a strong year-on-year improve- ment in voice performance across the market, with fast- er call connection times and better voice quality recorded industry-wide. Epic record- ed the strongest overall voice performance of the three op- erators tested. During capac- ity testing, Epic recorded its highest download throughput in the Northern Harbour re- gion, consistent with the pat- tern seen nationally. Pierre-Etienne Cizeron, Ep- ic's CEO, said: "Retaining first place in Malta's national mo- bile benchmark is an achieve- ment we're incredibly proud of because it reflects the experi- ence our customers have every day. Delivering a consistently high-performing network re- quires continuous investment, innovation and dedication from our teams. This recogni- tion motivates us to continue raising the bar for connectivity in Malta." This latest MCA benchmark follows another year of inde- pendent recognition for Epic's network performance. Earlier this year, Ookla named Epic Malta's Fastest Mobile Net- work for the third consecutive year, while also recognising it as Malta's Best Mobile Net- work and Best Performing Network on Apple Devices. Together, these independent assessments reinforce Epic's position as the network set- ting the benchmark for mobile connectivity in Malta.
