48 Malta Formula Racing's Formula 4 driver Keith Camilleri has been able to secure enough funding to compete in the 7th and final round of the FIa Formula 4 Italian cham- pionship to be held over this week- end at autodromo Enzo e Dino Fer- rari di Imola. Camilleri was set to miss this final round at Imola, following a similar situation as that of Monza and Ma- gione, due to financial issues. Following Camilleri's positive per- formance in the F4 Championship, UPS and a foreign investor made contact, and procured the necessary support so that Camilleri will be racing at the Imola circuit again. Imola is not a new circuit for the 21-year-old Maltese driver, who previously raced there in June in what was then the 2nd round of the championship. He did remarkably well in the 1st race, obtaining an excel- lent 5th place overall, hav- ing started 9th on the grid. Camilleri pointed out that he was relieved to se- cure the necessary funding for the last race of the sea- son, and thanked the local representative of UPS in Malta and the foreign in- vestor who believed in his abilities and in his dedi- cated team. "Imola is a circuit that I really enjoyed so I am ex- tremely looking forward to race there again. We understand that the car can perform much better than before, so I'm feeling cautiously optimistic that we can do well," Camilleri said. Malta Formula Racing team will be going to Imola after having reg- istered a perfect race weekend with two pole positions and three race wins at Monza two weeks ago with Mattia Drudi. Drudi, who is also a race winner at Imola will be joining Camilleri, in the sister F&M car, to- gether with Mahaveer Raghunatan who is improving race by race. Zack Dante, Camilleri's teammate in the Malta Formula Racing, will be missing the finals due to the in- jury he sustained at Vallelunga four weeks ago. the FIa F4 Italian Championship highlights from Race 1 and Race 2, followed with live broadcast of Race 3 may be followed today on tVM2 from 12:30pm. maltatoday, Sunday, 12 OctOber 2014 Sport MOTORSPORTS FORMULA 4 Keith Camilleri to race at Formula 4 championship in Imola Three Maltese drivers to participate in Luxembourg Hill Climb tHREE Maltese drivers are par- ticipating in the FIa Hill Climb Masters which is being held in luxembourg this weekend. Mark Micallef, Jason Muscat and Ryan Mangion are among the win- ners of hill climb national champi- onships and the winners of the FIa Hill Climb Competitions who will participate in the hill climb being held in Eschdorf. During the official presentation of the drivers before their depar- ture for luxembourg, Island Car Club chairman Jonathan tonna expressed his desire to have simi- lar facilities in Malta in order to host international competitions. Underlining the popularity of motorsports in Malta, the parlia- mentary secretary for youth and sport, Chris agius, said that the lack of funds and facilities are a common problem in many sport disciplines. agius said that al- though government did not have the means to fund all associations, he reiterated his commitment to set up adequate facilities. the first edition of the Hill Climb Masters started yesterday and continues today and the Eschdorf event was selected on the basis of its advantageous geographical lo- cation, which coincides with the objectives of the Masters, and also thanks to the proven experience of its organisers. the drivers eligible for the Mas- ters will be those classified in 2014 among the first 12 (per category) in the FIa European Hill Climb Championship and the FIa Inter- national Hill Climb Cup, the first three in the FIa zone champion- ships, the best drivers in each na- tional championship (top 5 in each category, top 3 in each group), plus the best Female Driver and the best Junior (under 23 years) designated by each national federation. In addition to crowning the "Champion of Champions" purely on performance criteria, the Mas- ters will include a Nations Cup, the classification of which will be based on a regularity index be- tween the three best drivers of each national team. the cars will be divided into three categories from FIa category 2, bringing together single-seaters, prototypes and silhouettes; FIa category 1 for touring and grand touring cars; to category 3 for cars meeting their specific national regulations.
