EXHIBITIONS UNTIL NOVEMBER 14 /ru:t/ Collective exhibition organised to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Malta's accession into the EU, organised at the Malta Maritime Museum, Birgu. Featuring artists Adrian Abela, Anna Grima, Charles Balzan, Elisa Von Brockdorff, Karen Caruana, Stephen Vella, Umberto Buttigieg and Victor Agius. Curated by Fabrizio Fleri Soler, the exhibition is an initiative of Fondazzjoni Ċelebrazzjonijiet Nazzjonali, and is being coordinated by Arts Council Malta, in collaboration with the Valletta 2018 Foundation. UNTIL NOVEMBER 7 Maltese Confabulations Multidisciplinary exhibition by German artist Bettina Hustchek at Blitz, St Lucy Street, Valletta. Fragments of Maltese reality are interwoven in the various narrations, forming the basis for artistic storytelling and presenting a body of work that is to be understood simultaneously, not chronologically. Opening hours: 10:00 to 15:00 (Tuesday to Thursday); 15:00 to 19:00 (Friday and Saturday). UNTIL NOVEMBER 9 CONSTRUCT An exhibition of paintings by Celia Borg Cardona at St James Cavalier, Valletta. The work on display shows that the painter's steadfast interest in streetscapes and bird's eye views of gatherings of people has now turned into a focus on sweeping, soaring architectural views of Maltese towns, sometimes on correspondingly oversize canvases. COMICS CONVENTION OCTOBER 31, NOVEMBER 2 Malta Comics and Pop Culture Expo Comic book and pop culture convention taking place at the Malta Mediterranean Conference Centre, Valletta. During the Expo, visitors will be able to attend panels or even meet up with known TV and film personalities. The guest line-up includes Dirk Benedict ('Faceman' from The A-Team), Robert Picardo (The Doctor from Star Trek: Voyager) and Sylvester McCoy (the 7th Dr Who and Radagast the Brown from The Hobbit). Maltese-British actor Joseph Gatt will also be joining the fray.
