With this victory, Hibernians extend their unbeaten run to nine matches while this defeat for Birkirkara was their third in nine matches. Hibernians started the match on the attack. In the 7th minute a shot by Clayton Failla hit the woodwork and then was cleared to safety. Birkirkara's Matheus Bissi da Sil- va went close with his freekick just two minutes later. In the 10th minute, Hibernians managed to take the lead. Jorge Pereira da Silva made his way past Nikola Vukanac to serve Edison Luis Dos Santos who then beat goalkeeper Justin Haber with his shot. In the 18th minute, Birkirkara went close to scoring when Ryan Scicluna's shot went just over the crossbar. Just before the end of the first half, a cross by Clayton Failla was not held by goalkeeper Justin Hab- er but a defender managed to clear the ball to safety. In the second half, Birkirkara started to pile on more pressure to try to score the equaliser. Shola Haruna Shodiya had his shot from outside the area blocked by Hiber- nians goalkeeper Henry Bonello. In the 59th minute Edison Luis Dos Santos' overhead kick went just wide. Hibernians almost doubled their lead in the 84th minute when Jorge Pereira da Silva made his way into the area before having his shot saved brilliantly by Justin Haber.
