MAY 16 Behind Enemy Lines Annual concert by the Maria Mater Gratiæ Philharmonic Society of Zabbar at Notre Dame Theatre, Zabbar at 19:30. The concert will be themed around famous wars and battles fought throughout the ages, particularly highlighting the 450th anniversary from the Great Siege of Malta and the 70th anniversary from the end of World War II. The band will be under the direction of Kevin Mizzi, with the comperes Mario Micallef and Graziella Mizzi. Entrance is free but donations are appreciated. MAY 16 Different Strings album launch Album launch by progressive rock band Different Strings at Black Gold Bar, Sliema at 21:00. The album, The Sounds of Silence – Part II, will be on sale at the gig, along with merchandise. Different Strings will be supported by Billy Lee and band on the night. Entrance is free. Featuring both finished works and works in progress from the artists sketchbook. THEATRE AND DANCE MAY 15-17, 22-24 Sibna Iz-Zejt Satirical play in Maltese at the Manoel Theatre, Valletta at 20:00. Written by Wayne Flask and directed by Sean Buhagiar. Based in 2036, where Malta strikes it rich… under the Addolorata cemetery! The Labour Party has been in power for such a long time that the PM himself is doing his best to lose the election honourably… but can't. MAY 15-17 Trap-ease: a physical poem Dance performance by Wi111ow Theatre at Palazzo Pereira, Valletta at 20:00. Directed by Alba Florian Viton with poems by Miriam Calleja; performed by Alba Florian Viton, Naomi Said and Brandon Shaw. MAY 15, 17 Blurred Boundaries First edition of a theatre festival by students of the Theatre Studies Department at the University of Malta at MITP Theatre, Valletta at 20:00 and 19:30 on respective nights. Devised entirely by the students themselves and coordinated by Dr Stefan Aquilina, the festival will present the audience with five diverse pieces, ranging from physical theatre, text-based, shadow puppetry, and much more. Admission is against a €5 donation. MAY 29-31 Il-Marid Immaginarju Dù Theatre is back with Il-Marid Immaġinarju, a comedy by Moliere at City Theatre, Old Bakery Street, Valletta at 20:00. Cast includes Chrysander Agius, Simone Spiteri, Daniel Azzopardi, Elaine Saliba, Carlos Farrugia, Pierre Stafrace, Magdalena van Kuilenburg, Jean Marc Cafa' and Franica Pulis. AGRICULTURAL FESTIVAL MAY 17 Frott il-Bidwi Mgarri Malta's agricultural hub, Żebbiegħ, will once again host its annual agricultural event 'Frott il- Bidwi Mġarri' on in the vicinity of Saint Anne's Church, from 08:30 to 19:00. Freshly picked seasonal fruits and a wide variety of local fresh vegetables will be on sale all day. Other products for sale will be honey, olive oil, cheeselets and a large variety of other agri-products and pot plants. Beverages and typical Maltese food will also be available all day.
