maltatoday, WEDNESDAY, 13 MAY 2015 17 Events Multigas Ltd donates beds to Mount Carmel Rehab Unit MULTIGAS Ltd donated 20 beds, complete with brand new mattresses to Mount Carmel Re- habilitation Unit for patients who are in the phase that determines their reintegration into society. The company participated in a general upgrading of the facili- ties, which is intended to create a more pleasant and comfortable environment for patients. "The idea of the unit is to make patients feel at home," explained Mount Carmel Hospital CEO Clifton Grima. "Following treatment, transi- tional housing is recognized as an essential step for patients on their road to recovery, as this helps patients to start integrat- ing back into society with as little repercussions for them as possible. Through this donation, the unit would be able to allocate more money to pressing needs," Grima said. Multigas Chairman Louis A Farrugia, who together with the Board of Directors and the Chief Executive Officer Michael Mif- sud visited the unit, said, "The patients are pleased with these improvements as they feel that they are being cared for. "Through this donation, Mul- tigas intends to enhance the in- dependence, dignity and privacy of residents while bringing about a happier atmosphere in the unit both for the patients as well as for the nursing staff." The beds were equally distrib- uted between male and female wards. The gesture was described by Ġemma Mifsud Bonnici, who followed this initiative, as "an ex- cellent example of the fulfilment of corporate social responsibil- ity."
