Similar to the rest of emCare's health and care solutions, the devices are aimed at putting the residents' minds at rest, accident prevention, as well as maintaining their independ- ence within the home. Akkwarell hosts three persons with physical disabilities who live there with the necessary support, which has now been extended to include the emCare Hub and SOS buttons for the residents. Thanks to these devices, the residents of Akkwarell can now call for imme- diate help by simply pressing one button. The SOS devices can be worn on the wrist or as a pendant, making them easily accessible in case of emergencies. Christine Borg, one of the resi- dents of Akkwarell, explained how the SOS button recently helped save her life, when she pressed it to call over the carer at the com- munity home, before losing con- sciousness. The resident was im- mediately taken to the hospital where she was given the appropri- ate medical care. Speaking about the company's support towards Id-Dar tal-Prov- idenza which is celebrating its 50th anniversary, Roland Cachia, General Manager at emCare, said "We are delighted to be commem- orating Id-Dar tal-Providenza's anniversary by giving our sup- port through our care solutions. Id-Dar tal-Providenza has been doing an excellent job at helping the Maltese community and we share its vision to help people feel in charge of their own lives. Our efforts, dedication and beliefs are focused towards the improvement of people's lives by ensuring that their independence is safeguard- ed, while still being able to feel that they are not alone in a way that respects their dignity." "Moreover, our services are beneficial not only to people who require additional care, but to all individuals as we are all in some way or another vulnerable in our daily lives. emCare not only offers immediate aid but also helps put individuals' minds at ease by let- ting them know that they are nev- er alone," Roland Cachia added. Father Martin Micallef, Director of Id-Dar ta-Providenza, thanked emCare for the company's support in the management of Akkwarell and in helping its residents to lead more independent lives. EXPRESS TRAILERS is once again investing in its ever- growing fleet of vehicles with the acquisition of 8 brand new DAF trucks, which will now be deployed on its grow- ing network across Europe. "At Express Trailers we are obsessed about optimis- ing efficiency and reducing risks for stakeholders. Only a modern and reliable fleet of transportation vehicles, sup- ported by proper monitoring technology, professionally driven by our team of drivers, can sustain increasing business and higher levels of service as demanded by customers," states Franco Azzo- pardi, Chairman and CEO of Ex- press Trailers. "This is why Express Trailers in- vests heavily in its fleet, not only because such an investment ena- bles us to deliver our service more efficiently, or only because our bright Orange flagship colour of our fleet is our brand ambassador everywhere we operate, but also because we want to minimise re- sidual logistic risks to the benefit of our customer and road users," added Mr Azzopardi. "We are also pleased to have had the opportunity to acquire these trucks from a local company, United Equipment Co Ltd. This company has been a DAF Sales & Service Dealer in Malta since 2006 and we enjoy an excellent business relationship with them. In fact, Express Trailers has already ex- perienced the DAF brand having acquired other vehicles in the re- cent past. Through United Equip- ment Co Ltd, we have been able to secure the competitive prices on par with international dealers and we also benefit from the excellent local company's support," added Franco Azzopardi. Express Trailers has opted for DAF's newly introduced XF mod- els, considered a benchmark in long-distance road transport. De- signed for maximum transport efficiency with a newly developed Euro 6, 12.9-litre PACCAR MX-13 engine, the new trucks are built on a completely new chassis which is complemented by a new and at- tractive exterior design. Together with a revamped interior, this new model offers operators and drivers the best handling within the most comfortable environment. DAF Trucks N.V is a sub- sidiary of PACCAR Inc. and is considered by the industry as one of the most successful truck manufacturers in Eu- rope. "The company does not only build near-perfect trucks but it seeks to deliver the most efficient and total transport so- lution where, through the local and international dealer network, we help our clients choose the right vehicle for their operations. Through our subsidiary company United Equipment, we have been representing DAF in Malta for almost ten years, providing the best equipment and service in the industry through a meticulous choice of brands, highly motivat- ed trained staff and expert man- agement," said John Bonello from United Equipment Co Ltd, part of the Bonnici Group of Companies.
