After their recent defeat against Val- letta in their last match, this vic- tory injects some much needed confidence in the team. For Pembroke, this is the third defeat in their last four matches. Hibernians did not have to wait long before they took the lead – just after four minutes of play. Off a cross by Clayton Failla, Jorge Santos Silva beat goalkeep- er Mario Muscat with his precise header. Hibernians lost a perfect op- portunity to double their lead when Gilmar da Silva Ribeiro was brought down inside the area by Zoran Levnaic and the referee immediately pointed to the penalty spot. But from the spot, Clayton Faill's attempt ended up wide for the score to remain 1-0. Just before half-time, Hiber- nians were made to regret their missed penalty when Pembroke equalised. Siraj Arab Eddin had his powerful shot from outside the area beat goalkeeper Rudy Briffa. Hibernians again did not have to wait long after the start of the second half when they managed to regain the lead on the 48th minute. Clayton Failla's cross was def lected into the path of Gilmar da Silva Ribeiro who then went on to beat goalkeeper Mario Muscat with his low shot. Pembroke missed a great op- portunity to equalise on the 56th minute when they were awarded a penalty. Andrew Cohen brought down Gustavo Villalobos inside the area and the referee immedi- ately pointed to the penalty spot. From the penalty spot Villalobos shot wide. Pembroke again almost equal- ised on the 81st minute when Villalobos' shot hit the crossbar, denying them a goal. Hibernians managed to hold off the determined Pembroke side to collect the three precious points.
