Even with only 10 men, Balzan managed to defend their lead and add more misery to Mosta. This victory comes at the right time for Balzan as they are bouncing back from a bad spell of results. Mosta are in a bit of a negative spell as this is their sec- ond consecutive defeat. Balzan took the lead 11 min- utes into the match. A powerful shot by Dylan Grima was par- tially saved by goalkeeper Omar Borg, but off the rebound Lydon Micallef made no mistake with his shot to give Balzan the early lead. Balzan doubled their lead on the 35th minute. Paul Fenech made his way into the area be- fore sending a low cross towards Alfred Effiong who then fired a powerful shot past Omar Borg. Mosta managed to make their way back into the match when they pulled one back on the 52nd minute. Off a cross by Adrian Borg, Tyrone Farrugia headed the ball towards James Brincat who then went on to beat goalkeeper Christian Cassar with his shot. On the 62nd minute, Balzan's match turned for the worse when Paul Fenech was sent off after re- ceiving a second yellow card, for a challenge on Kyle Frendo. Even though Balzan were play- ing with 10 men, they managed to extend their lead on the 74th minute, when Ryan Fenech's powerful shot left no chance for goalkeeper Borg. Balzan continued to push for- ward and on the 90th minute, substitute Alan da Silva Souza's effort from the edge of the area was enough to make the final score 4-1.
