Naxxar remain second from the bottom of the Premier League ta- ble after suffering six consecutive defeats. The first half was a quiet affair with very few chances in front of goal. Pembroke managed to break the deadlock in the 59th minute when, off a cross by Ariel Laudisi, Manolito Micallef beat goalkeep- er Julian Azzopardi with a precise header. Pembroke made sure they col- lected all three points in added time when Laudisi released Gus- tavo Villalobos who then made his way past the goalkeeper to make it 2-0. Ghedin will now have the task to lead his team through the qualifiers for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The contract was signed during a meeting between MFA Presi- dent Norman Darmanin Demajo and Ghedin after the MFA Presi- dent consulted with the MFA Ex- ecutive committee. In a statement, the MFA con- gratulated Pietro Ghedin and wished him continued success with the national team. Under the guidance of Pietro Ghedin, the national team has produced positive results which increased the team's respect and reputa- tion in the international football scene. The German, who replaced Brendan Rodgers as Liverpool manager in October, was ap- proached by Ferguson in April 2013 as the Scot moved towards the end of his 27-year reign at Old Trafford. However, Klopp was unwilling to consider a move to England as he was already planning for the 2013-14 campaign with Borussia Dortmund and United subse- quently appointed David Moyes as Ferguson's successor.
