Hibernians were the dominant side from the start and came close to scoring on the 22nd minute. Jurgen Degabriele made his way into the area and past goalkeeper Jake Galea, but Degabriele's shot was deflected by Sorin Oproiescu. Hibernians missed another great chance to take the lead on the 37th minute when Jurgen Degabriele's shot went just over the bar. In the second half, Hibernians final- ly managed to take the lead thanks to a penalty on the 55th minute. Ju- rgen Degabriele was brought down inside the area by Sorin Opriescu and the referee immediately point- ed to the penalty spot. Clayton Failla drilled the ball past goalkeeper Jake Galea to give Hi- bernians the lead. But Hibernians' lead did not last long as St Andrews were awarded a penalty just minutes later. Joseph Essien Mbong looked to a pushed Matteo Desira Buttigieg inside the area. Joseph Farrugia shot from the spot and beat goalkeeper Rudy Brif- fa to make the score 1-1. On the 90th minute, Hibernians managed to take command of the match again, when a precise free- kick by Gilmar da Silva Ribeiro left no chance for goalkeeper Jake Galea. While Hibernians thought they would be going away with all three points, St Andrews continued to fight for the draw. Two minutes in added time the goal arrived for St Andrews when Jona- tan Perez Cuestra sent a low cross towards Joseph Farrugia, who then went on to beat Hibernians goal- keeper Rudy Briffa. The match ended 2-2 with St An- drews celebrating the first point of the season that had been so long in coming.
