Naxxar's striker Demba Toure was the star of a match with the Senegalese international player netting a hat-trick to sink a poor Qormi side. The win saw the Lions end a four-match losing streak and leapfrog Qormi into tenth place, two points ahead of their relega- tion rivals. Despite the high score, Naxxar only took the lead three min- utes from the end of the first half when Toure's powerful header from David Fenech's cross beat Qormi goalkeeper Andreas Vel- la. Nine minutes in the second half, Naxxar were awarded a penalty after Qormi wingback Alessio Cassar handled the ball inside the area and Demba Toure duly scored his second from the spot. Eight minutes later, Naxxar scored a third with Qormi de- fender Guinean defender Ous- mane Sidibe put the ball into his own net as he attempted to clear the danger. On the 76th minute Toure masde sure he took the ball home by scoring with a header from yet another cross from David Fenech. Three minutes from time, Xhoe- ijan Cekaj piled more misery on Qormi by scoring Naxxar's fifth with a header.
