42 Events maltatoday, SUNDAY, 10 JULY 2016 OzoGroup announces €4 million investment, 25% increase in workforce OZOGROUP of Qormi an- nounced a €4 million investment in a new factory in Hal Far, ena- bling it to expand into new sec- tors, including manufacturing, and to increase its workforce by 25 per cent from its current 1,200 to 1,500, as it celebrated its 20th anniversary. The OzoGroup, whose subsidi- aries include OzoSystems, Ozo- Malta, OzoGozo, OzoAcademy, OzoCare and OzoSecurity, was started by Chairman Mario Mus- cat from his son Fabio's bedroom. During an event to celebrate its 20th anniversary, held on the 28th June at Villa Arrigo, San Pawl tat-Tarġa, it unveiled a new brand image, signed a new collec- tive agreement with the General Workers' Union and made a do- nation to President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca for the Malta Com- munity Chest Fund. In an emotional speech Mr Mario Muscat recounted the humble beginnings of the busi- ness. He said he never imagined that he would have achieved so much, employing so many people and achieving ISO certification for the third year in a row. OzoGroup was also identified among the most inspiring com- panies in Europe. It has just been awarded the National Public Champion in the European Busi- ness Awards. Mr Muscat's dream will be fully realised when he will be endorsed by "Elite", a European group of or- ganisations, giving the OzoGroup full access to the European mar- ket. While thanking everybody present, and looking forward to the future, Mr Muscat encour- aged everyone to never let go of their dream. Among those who addressed the event were Education and Employment Minister Evarist Bartolo, who welcomed the Ozo- Group's investment in training through the OzoAcademy. The biggest asset the country has is its human resources and Mr Bar- tolo emphasised the link between the government, the union and the management to organise the workers' quality of work in the best way possible. In his address, Economy, Invest- ment and Medium Sized Com- panies Minister Chris Cardona welcomed the rebranding, con- gratulated OzoGroup on its ISO certification and awards, and emphasised the importance of in- vestment by medium-sized com- panies like OzoGroup, which ob- tained recognition on a local and international level. Being recognised by the London Stock Exchange as being one of a thousand companies from among 23 million companies to inspire Europe is no mean feat and should do us all proud, Dr Cardona said. The success of OzoGroup is a tes- tament of the Maltese workers' skills and, with volatile economic scenarios like Brexit, it is compa- nies like these that instil confi- dence for a bright future. The event began with an elegant press launch for media, business partners and management in which OzoGroup announced a newly branded look and feel. Ozo- Group Chief Executive Officer Fabio Muscat introduced Etienne Mallia from LogixCreative and invited him to present the new branding through a nostalgic cor- porate video. Mr Fabio Muscat then intro- duced OzoSecurity General Man- ager Mario Calleja, who thanked Chairman Mario Muscat for ful- filling his dream that had grown into a group of companies that employs over 1,200 people, all of whom thanks to him come to work with a smile. Mr Calleja then went on to ex- plain that the company took the initiative to invite the General Workers' Union to be present on the day to sign a milestone col- lective agreement for the employ- ees. In his address GWU General Secretary Josef Bugeja thanked OzoGroup and its Chairman for this initiative. He welcomed bet- ter work practices and the clean health and safety work environ- ment, adding with satisfaction that trade unions are being seen as an opportunity rather than a threat. The event came to a close with the donation from the OzoChar- ity foundation to the Malta Com- munity Chest Fund. President Coleiro Preca praised the new collective agreement and thanked the Muscat family for being not only friends but a huge contribu- tion to the Maltese economy. The location alone lends it- self perfectly to a walk through garden wine festival whilst en- joying the majestic views from the Valletta bastions, overlook- ing the Yacht Marina and Slie- ma harbour. The event plans to have a highly cultural and en- tertaining concept, by present- ing a myriad of professional musicians performing daily, whilst offering a vast selection of over 30 certified D.O.K and I.Ġ.T quality wines from grapes grown around Malta and Gozo. All of these wines can be en- joyed by visiting the different wine bars, carefully spread around Hastings Gardens. The event has always adopted a token system in exchange for wine, this encourages patrons to taste and enjoy the large variety of quality wines made available, without over con- suming. A few of the artists in this year's line-up include Malta's leading bands: Airport Im- pressions, one of the most suc- cessful bands to have emerged locally in recent years; The Creepers, a cutting edge vin- tage blues band; Kazinska, a talented seven-piece ensemble giving their own cool interpre- tation of ' banda marches'; & the sister duo of the New Victori- ans will be showcasing their memorable melodies. More live acts and chill out music are amongst other attractions that we have lined up for each night of this special event. For the very first time, this year we shall be including a dedicated Wine Educational Area, which will offer fun and interactive ways to learn about wine. It will feature a blind tasting of a selection of wines, followed by a detailed explana- tion of each one, and the op- portunity to walk away with a prize. Email cellars@mar- sovinwinery.com to book your place. Marsovin has engaged vari- ous restaurants and caterers to showcase their cuisine, offer- ing a small but enticing selec- tion of dishes at very reason- able prices. Renowned Asian fusion restaurant - TemptA- sian will be manning a sushi bar; Bottegin Palazzo Xara will be setting up for their famous 12 hour smoked pork; Eat Me I'm Famous will be offering freshly made pizza on site; Brass&Knuckle will be pre- sent with premium cold cuts & cheese; Chukkas Grill will be chargrilling a variety of meats; and last but not least The Pulled Meat Company will be preparing an array of mouth- watering Maltese dishes. All those attending the wine festival have the opportunity to purchase a €15 token pack- age fee, which includes a pre- mium festival wine glass to take home and €15 worth of wine tokens, with which one can either taste up to 20 differ- ent wines or drink a selection of wines by the glass or by the bottle. Alternatively for those who are not wine drinkers but still want to mingle around and enjoy the live entertainment, a variety of non-alcoholic re- freshments will also be avail- able for sale. Decorated with traditional pav- aljuni and bandalori, the usu- ally tranquil and serene pool area within the residential home in Balzan was transformed into a typical Maltese square one finds during the village feast. "With over 150 resi- dents, 120 workers and daily visi- tors, Casa An- tonia Nursing and Residential Home can easily resemble a small village commu- nity," said Casa Antonia General Manager, Dr Sarah Cassar. "Providing our elderly residents with the opportuni- ty to enjoy the mer- riment village feasts bring along, is just a typical exam- ple of how Casa Antonia empha- sises holistic quality care within familiar surroundings." The two Balzan bands contrib- uted greatly to the success of this event, with the Maria Annunziata Band Club musicians playing pop- ular Maltese marches, while the San Gabriel Band Club tastefully decorating Casa Antonia with tra- ditional pavaljuni and bandalori. As no traditional Maltese village feast would be complete without food, Casa Antonia organised food stalls offering those food items one would find in a feast ambience. Mouth-watering items included ħobż biż-żejt, pastizzi, qassatat, hot dogs and even rabbit stew. Those opting for the sweeter side of life were treated to a delectable selection of im- qaret, qagħaq tal-għasel, krus- tini tar-raħal, and nougat (qub- bajt). Keeping in theme with the event, the serving staff were dressed tra- ditional Maltese costumes.
