maltatoday, SUNDAY, 25 JUNE 2017 Events 45 Emirates has won World's Best In- flight Entertainment award for a record 13th year at the prestigious Skytrax World Airline Awards 2017. The airline also picked up the award for Best First Class Comfort Amenities. The Skytrax World Airline Awards are considered a global benchmark of airline excellence. This year's results were decided by 19.8 million customers across 105 countries. The survey reviewed over 320 airlines from August 2016 to May 2017. World's Best Inflight Entertainment since launch Emirates' inflight entertain- ment system, ice, was launched in 2003. Today, ice features over 2,500 channels of entertainment, including the latest blockbuster movies, award-winning televi- sion box sets, live TV, music and computer games. In the last year, 28% more entertainment has been added including more varied con- tent giving customers more choic- es than ever. New content on ice includes free expert-led LinkedIn Learning courses that cover topics such as leadership, general management, marketing, and creative lifestyle. Emirates has also added uTalk language courses to its learning zone on ice. The series of videos offer beginner lessons for travel- lers to pick up Arabic, German, French, Spanish or Italian during their flight. Best First Class Comfort Amenities Emirates clinched the Best First Class Comfort Amenities at this year's Skytrax awards following a recent product overhaul across all cabins aimed at enhancing com- fort in the air. Among the new products introduced last year is a luxury spa range from award- winning Irish brand VOYA. Emirates has also partnered with luxury Italian brand Bul- gari for its latest designs of the airline's exclusive kit bags, which now feature Bulgari's woody floral fragrance – Eau Parfumée au thé noir - and contain skincare es- sentials to keep customers feeling fresh and pampered throughout the flight. In December, Emirates also in- troduced the world's first mois- turising lounge wear in its First Class cabins. Sahhtek Seminar for Atlas clients ARQ Group announces office move to accommodate growth and expansion Atlas Insurance clients recently attended a seminar about diabe- tes in Malta, organised by Atlas and Saħħtek, the nationwide health and wellbeing study being carried out by the University of Malta. The talk was given by Dr Julian Mamo, Head of the Public Health Department and Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Medi- cine & Surgery and Dr Sarah Cuschieri, the Saħħtek project co-ordinator. Mamo gave a snapshot of the results being obtained from the study, together with information on healthy lifestyle choices. The Sahhtek educational semi- nar forms part of Atlas' spon- sorship of the Saħħtek study as well as the Atlas Wellness programme, which promotes a healthy lifestyle through vari- ous initiatives for staff and cli- ents. The previous talks covered diabetes-related conditions and lifestyle choices, and exercise. Saħħtek is a nationwide study being carried out to determine the proportion and number of persons suffering from diabetes, hypertension, lack of physical ac- tivity and obesity in Malta. The fieldwork all over Malta and Go- zo has been completed, with the team now in the last stages of the laboratory work. Vodafone Malta first to launch 4G+, starting in Gozo In a first for the country, Vodafone Malta on Friday in- troduced superfast 4G+ internet speeds to Gozo. With download speeds of up to 210 Mbps, 4G+ enables an online experi- ence which is up to 60% faster than 4G. And to truly allow everyone to try this out for themselves, Vodafone is giving away 210 free SIM cards, each containing 1GB of internet, to al- low Gozitans to try it out. The introduction of 4G+ ser- vices provides a large boost to any activity involving internet us- age such as accessing apps on the move, real-time transfer of data and live streaming, and enables faster downloads and web brows- ing as well as a better video view- ing experience. "Whether it's at university, work, home or while out and about, mobile customers are constantly using their mobile devices to do more – and they want their data speeds to be fast and reliable," Vodafone Malta's head of technol- ogy Sheila Kavanagh said. "At Vodafone we pride ourselves on being one step ahead so that we are always ready to bring our cus- tomers the newest technologies first, to deliver a better experi- ence. Our new, faster 4G+ speeds are testament to this. "Furthermore, this launch is also a showcase of investment and in- novation in Gozo. It's often men- tioned that Gozo deserves more attention and investment – now the best comes to Gozo first." Kavanagh said that customers with compatible phones will not need to do anything to access the 4G+ network as their phones will automatically select settings for the best performance.
