Delighted (4) Ke2+ Kg8 Qe8# Masters Football Player of the Month for January 2018 announced MASSIMO Schembri is the MAPFRE MSV Life Masters Football Player of the Month for January 2018. He was pre- sented with the award trophy by Michael Galea, Chief Of- ficer Business Development of MAPFRE MSV Life and Mario Meli, President of Mas- ters Football during a presen- tation held at the MAPFRE MSV Life offices in Floriana. "We are pleased with the response to the Player of the Month award which we have launched this season and which is ensuring that the efforts of the top player for the month are acknowledged and rewarded," said Michael Galea whilst congratulating Massimo Schembri on his achievement. "We are con- fident that this award is an added incentive for the play- ers to give their best on the pitch and is therefore contrib- uting towards enhancing the attractiveness of the Masters Football league" added Galea. Massimo Schembri stated that football gave him the op- portunity to meet others who shared the same passion for football and to live a healthy lifestyle. It is his pleasure playing in the Masters League as this brings him memories of the past. Massimo com- mented that the organisation of the league is excellent and the competitiveness has be- come of high level, one which players who have spent half their lives training would look forward to. Massimo is an asset for the team of Wardija which cur- rently occupies the third place in the standings of the MAPFRE MSV Life Masters Premier League. MASSIMO SCHEMBRI – MAPFRE MSV Life Player of the Month – January 2018 Massimo Schembri started playng football at the age of 15 with St Patrick's F.C. in 1989 and when he was sixteen he played with the first team as libero chosen by the Bulga- ran coach Gencho Dobbrev. When he was 20 he captained the team that won the cham- pionship and was promoted to the Premier Division. Af- ter a year, he joined Pieta un- der coach George Deanov. In 2001 he joined Floriana on loan for a year. Due to work and family reasons he stopped for some months and then he joined Tarxien on loan and with them won promotion to the 1st Division and won the knock out competetion. Dur- ing his career he also played in the national teams U 16, 18 and 21.
