45 Events maltatoday SUNDAY 22 APRIL 2018 THE Phoenicia, a CampbellGray Hotel and part of Leading Hotels of the World, has named Security Of- ficer Raymond Azzopardi as its Em- ployee of the Year 2017. The 5-star hotel's coveted annual award has been established to highlight the outstanding contribution individu- al employees make to The Phoeni- cia and its guests. Azzopardi has been a member of The Phoenicia's team for 25 years and exemplifies The Phoenicia's core values of Safety, Security and Service Excellence. He has been recognised for displaying a pas- sion for working safely and taking great care to protect colleagues and guests from harm. The Phoenicia's Employee of the Year is chosen through an annual process. Every quarter, the Heads of Department nominate employees for Employee of the Quarter that excel in their positions and then all those nominated during the year are automatically nominated for the Employee of the Year award. Ray- mond Azzopardi received his award because he excelled in his role at Se- curity and showed continuous com- mitment to The Phoenicia's and CampbellGray Hotel's core values when interacting with guests and colleagues. Azzopardi was presented with a cash prize of €500 together with a certificate and trophy by The Phoenicia's General Manager Charles Azzopardi who said, "At The Phoenicia, we believe that our people are our greatest asset. We are committed to recognise and re- inforce consistent and exceptional performance by members of our team. The Employee of the Year award boosts morale and encour- ages employee initiative, innovation and commitment across all The Phoenicia's Departments by dem- onstrating the importance man- agement attaches to excellence of performance as well as exceptional achievements and service through recognising the contributions of individual staff members to the overall operation of the hotel." Raymond Azzopardi said: "After 25 years as part of The Phoenicia family I am very proud to receive such recognition for doing my job. It's a great honour to follow in the footsteps of some special members of staff who have previously won this award." The McDonald's Player Es- cort Program is open to all children aged between six and ten and is part of McDonald's initiative to improve children's well-being through sport. The prize consists of trans- fers, accommodation, family activities and two tickets for a selected 2018 FIFA World Cup match. Children must take part in one of the football festivals in March and April organised by the Malta Football Associa- tion and McDonald's Football Plus for Kids. A random draw will deter- mine the 61 participants who will take part in the final tour- nament on Saturday May 12, 2018 when a winner will be selected by random draw to redeem the prize.
