THEATRE & DANCE MAY 16-20 The Crucible Teatru Manoel presents a new production of American play- wright Arthur Miller's classic play which is regarded as a cen- tral work in the canon of Ameri- can drama. This is a dramatised and partially fictionalised story of the Salem witch trials that took place in the Massachusetts Bay Colony during 1692/93. The show is strictly 16+. Tickets range between €10 and €25. MAY 18-20 Apocalesque! Fringe theatre and variety show with an 'apocalyptic bur- lesque' theme at City Lights, St John's Street, Valletta at 20:00. It's post apocalyptic Malta. The enormous weight of the con- struction boom has caused the island to collapse. The only ones that remain are the filthy dregs of society. Culture, however, is booming with sinister priests, voodoo goddesses, feline slaves and flesh eating virgins luring victims into their beautifully twisted cabaret. FILM SCREENING MAY 22 Two Trumpets for St Andrew/ Luqa Screening presented by Solar Cinema Malta of the documen- tary Two Trumpets For St An- drew (1968) at Iz-Zuntier tad- Dokkiena, Luqa at 20:30. Two Trumpets For St Andrew is an Australian documentary film that follows the rivalry between two band clubs in the village of Luqa in 1968. John Calleja and Anthony Theuma are the two main protagonists. We are in- troduced to their way of life and to their passion for their respec- tive band clubs. Both men take us to their place of work - The military air base and the Malta dry Docks. Shot while the Brit- ish occupation was ending and Malta's independence was at its inception, this film offers a rare view of how Maltese village life was at the time. VILLAGE EVENTS MAY 19-20 Malta Artisan Spring Market Malta Artisan Markets pre- sented a spring market, which will be held at Fort St Elmo over the weekend of Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 May, between 11am and 6pm. The market will fea- ture local independent sell- ers, artisans and crafters, food stalls. The market will also be dog friendly, and is sponsored by Coffee Circus and Heritage Malta. Entrance is free. MAY 20 Irkottafest 2018 Event celebrating Irkotta, tak- ing place at Ħal Kirkop main square from 09:30 to 20:00. Ħal Kirkop is extensively noted for the tradition of Irkotta mak- ing. During this event there will be a live demonstration of how Irkotta is made and other things such as artisans exhibiting lace- making, weaving, traditional food preservation and hand- made work. An art exhibition will also be held along with var- ious entertainment throughout the day. MAY 26- JUNE 2 Malta Fashion Week The Malta Fashion Week is back for it's 20th anniversary. Taking place all throughout Malta, the week event will feature fashion shows, bridal shows, fashion awards, and so much more celebrating Malta's fashion industry. Tickets vary depending on shows and while some show are free of charge, others are paid events. TODAY Upper Crust Fest – Msida Skatepark Celebration of the Msida Skatepark Communit y at the Msida Skate Park from 12:00. Featuring skateboarding, BMX, graf fiti, street ar t, breakdance and music. Punk bands Bila and Double Standard from 18:30 to 22:00. Entrance is free. Sponsored and suppor ted by Agenzija Zghazagh, Malta Council for the Voluntar y Sector, Small Initiatives for small Schemes, Street elements hiphop ar tists and Epic No Limits. Imagine Water, Catch The Drop: Exhibition This nation-wide "Catch the Drop" campaign (a National Environmental Water Conser vation campaign and Educational Campaign) consists of a collaboration bet ween one local ar tist, one international ar tist from the Association École d'Ar t au Village and 150 students from four dif ferent schools in Malta and in Gozo, ranging from Grade 6 to Form 3. The project explores meaningful, creative and experimental ar t through a series of painting workshops and lectured field trips, that will raise awareness on the impor tance of water to the Maltese Islands. The exhibition will run in both Malta, at Spot A and B, St James Cavalier, and Gozo, at the Cit tadella Cultural Centre. Entrance is free. While Malta's exhibition will run until today, Gozo's exhibitions, "Imagine Water" at Space 5, "Gozo Goes Ar t " at Space 1 & 3 will be on until 26 August 2018. Ilhna Mitlufa – Lost Voices Ilhna Mitlufa (The Lost Voices) is a show comprising a dramaturgy around an ensemble of local musicians playing a varied reper toire of traditional songs and folk chants. This music theatre project proposes new musical arrangements and contexts for theatrical per formance of this age-old stor y telling tradition called Ghana.
