MAPFRE employees spend afternoon with St John's Rescue Corps EMPLOYEES of MAPFRE Middlesea and MAPFRE MSV Life recently spent a very interesting afternoon at Fort Madliena, participating in activities organised by the St John's Rescue Corps. The group of thirty em- ployees attended a fire safety awareness course, followed by a tour of the premises and historical information of the Fort. The employees also helped the volunteers by cleaning the area, wash- ing the ambulances and doing some refurbishment works around the premises. MAPFRE Middlesea sup- ports St John's Rescue Corps by providing insurance cov- er to the ambulances plus public liability insurance. It also provides financial help to cover the ongoing main- tenance of existing rescue equipment and vehicles as well as procurement of new rescue equipment. Following the activity, the two companies put forward a donation which will help St John's to train new vol- unteers and prepare them in their mission to assist in emergency services. St John Rescue Corps is a voluntary organisation that provides rescue services during community events and large scale rescue oper- ations. These include events such as the Isle of MTV, Notte Bianca, the Beer Fest as well as national rescue exercises organised by the Civil Protection Depart- ment. Human resources remain key to Farsons' success THE crucial role played by employees, both past and present, in Farsons' ongo- ing success was recognised and applauded during an event for all Farsons Group employees at the Brewery in Mrieħel. The event was part of the celebrations marking the 90th anniversary since Farsons' first team of brewers produced the first truly Mal- tese beer, Farsons Pale Ale, in 1928. "Employees were undoubt- edly crucial to the success of Farsons and its beers over the past nine decades, and will continue to be the foundations upon which our Group will grow," stated Louis A. Farrugia, Farsons Group Chairman. Farsons, which has an in- clusive and diverse work- force, has always been a firm believer in the importance of its human resources. The concept of engaging talent and empowering employees, enshrined in the Company's mission statement, is one which it puts into practice as its employees are inspired by the S.T.R.I.D.E. values, name- ly success, teamwork, respect, integrity, dynamism and ex- cellence. "Important as our multi- million investments in effi- ciency and process automa- tion are, it is the commitment and loyalty of our employees, which will continue to un- derpin our success. Recent investments, such as our new 3,800 square metre corporate office block, are providing a motivating and productive workplace which in turn leads to innovative approaches and enhanced quality in all that we do," said Farrugia. Various employee engage- ment and motivation schemes such as the suggestion scheme 'AIM' and recognition awards 'Cause for Applause' are also in place. Awards for both schemes were presented to employees during the event, which was also addressed by Group Chief Executive Nor- man Aquilina and Group Hu- man Resources Manager An- toinette Caruana.
