24 maltatoday | WEDNESDAY • 27 FEBRUARY 2019 NATIONALIST MEP Francis Zammit Dimech has expressed disappoint- ment that the Malta Inter- national Airshow had to be cancelled for the second consecutive year. "This is a niche that af- fects many Maltese aviation enthusiasts, families who await this appointment to take their children to watch the show and attracts many high-quality tourists to our country," he said. Zammit Dimech said that "It is a pity that in recent months we have repeatedly heard how the Malta Avia- tion Society was not finding any support to organise the airshow." The former tourism min- ister said that there had al- ways been support for the activity under the Nation- alist administration. "The airshow was organised one year after another without ever missing an edition and that when the Malta Avia- tion Society had asked for help, I had offered support for the activity to become an annual event in the tourism calendar." Zammit Dimech said that that in Konrad Miz- zi's two years as tourism minister, the airshow not been organised for two consecutive years. "I will be offering full support so that airshow will once again become an annual appointment under a new Nationalist government for the benefit of aviation enthusiasts, the Maltese and Gozitan families and all those working in the tourism sector." YANNICK PACE BANK of Valletta's website went tem- porarily offline on Tuesday morning, weeks after the bank was hit by a mas- sive cyber attack. However, the bank said in a state- ment that it was experiencing internet connectivity issues that were affecting its electronic channels, "mainly servic- es relating to internet banking, mobile banking, and card payments through its EPOS machines and the website". "The Bank is working to solve these technical issues in the shortest possible time," BOV said. Earlier this month, the bank was forced to shut down all its systems, including its ATMs and point of sales system after a breach of its system was detected. The bank had decided to shut down its systems after it received confirma- tion from the Malta Security Services that it had been the victim of a cyber attack.
