maltatoday | SUNDAY • 9 DECEMBER 2018 ELDERLY CARE E5 PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARIAT FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITY AND ACTIVE AGEING Holistic care for Elderly Persons St Vincent de Paul has been undergoing a revamping process, to be transformed from a neglected condition to a state-of-the-art residence for elderly people in need of highly dependent care. This change could only have taken place due to a number of developments, both infra- structural and with regards to its serviceprovision. Recently, the Parliamentary Secretary for for Persons with Disability and Active Ageing, Anthony Agius Decelis, inaugurated Silver Hub, a new day centre for elderly residents with high levels of dependency at St Vincent De Paul, this being the first of its kind in our country. Such investment is intended to enhance the social and educational dimension of the residents' care. Evidently, SVP focuses on providing a holistic approach, resulting in better quality services for older persons, who deserve to maintain a good quality of life and to age with dignity.
