14 TODAY Ta' Mintna Catacombs to open at a reduced price Heritage Malta is opening the catacombs of Ta' Mintna in Mqabba at the reduced price of €2. This site is usually not open to the public and access to it is by appointment. Tours will take place every 30 minutes, start- ing from 9am (last tour starts at noon). The event will end at 1pm. The trio will take us on a tour of Alexandra's musi- cal journey to date, going back to 2013 with her debut EP, 'The Curious Child' to her most re- cent release, 'Wild Honey' (2018) which was recorded at Rock- town Studios in the Netherlands. Alexandra's music can best be described as sensitive and bitter- sweet, with lyrics gently cradled in dreamy soundscapes of lush strings and delicate instrumen- tal runs. This year held on 30 May – 2 June, it will fea- ture fivemusic areas and around 120 acts from around the World with an eclectic music fusion of World Music, Ska, Funk, Blues, Reggae, Alternative Rock, Dub, Hip-Hop, Psychedelic Trance, Techno, House, Electro, Drum 'n' Bass and more. JUNE 8 An evening with Bruce Dickinson NNG Promotions are proud to announce a special one-man speaking show by Iron Maiden singer, Bruce Dickinson in Malta on Saturday June 8 at the Sir Te- mi Zammit Hall, University Of Malta, Tal-Qroqq, Msida. Split into two parts, the first half of the show sees Bruce taking a hu- morous, often satirical look back at his colourful, roller-coaster life. The highlights for this year's pro- gramme are Kenny Garrett, one of the world's most renowned saxophone players, Jazzmeia Horn one of the most important jazz vocalists, who was nominat- ed for a grammy last year, Oz- mosys, featuring legendary jazz drummer Omar Hakim, one of the most versatile eclectic jazz drummers who has collaborated with Miles Davis, Dire Straits, Daft Punk and David Bowie and for the second time Chucho Val- dés – the Cuban jazz legend, six- time Grammy Award Winner, who will all be performing on the Main Stage at Ta' Liesse in Valletta. JULY 10 Pink Floyd's Nick Mason live in Concert Rock 'N Malta are proud to present Pink Floyd's founding member Nick Mason and his band Saucerful of Secrets live in concert on the 10th of July at St George's Square, Valletta. Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets featuring Nick Mason, Gary Kemp, Guy Pratt, Lee Harris and Dom Beken is a unique op- portunity to experience Pink Floyd's celebrated and signifi- cant early body of work played live including songs from al- bums 'The Piper At The Gates of Dawn' and 'A Saucerful Of Secrets'. Tickets are available from www.kultura.mt Exhibitions APRIL 26 – MAY 26 Julinu's Radioactive Ravioli Award-winning artist-illus- trator Julian Mallia, also known as Julinu, will soon present his first solo painting exhibition that promises to offer alterna- tive visual interpretations of familiar notions and elements from pop culture. The exhibi- tion, named Julinu's Radioac- tive Ravioli, features a collec- tion of 17 realistically-executed oil paintings, which utilise the artist's signature graphic wit, atmospheric surrealism and meticulously-executed visual ideas to present a different take on reality. Curated by Justine Balzan Demajo and Francois Zammit, Julinu's Radioactive Ravioli is supported by a Mal- ta Arts Fund Project Support Grant from Arts Council Malta and by Vee Gee Bee Art, San Gwann. It is targeted at anyone aged 16 and above and will be exhibited at Spazju Kreattiv in Valletta from Friday 26 April until Sunday 26 May, with en- trance free of charge. UNTIL SUNDAY 2ND JUNE Exquisite Corpse - I loved you more Maree Azzopardi's new works continue the artist's ongoing engagement with themes of the human body, religious symbol- ism, and the polarities of earth and water. Her photographs act as memorials for the people or places they remember and record. They include personal memories and family narrative and the works explore themes of loss, retrieval, commemora- tion and bearing witness. For the first time, the artist has printed photographs onto linen. These works harness the sym- bolic power of linen in Catholic ritual and iconography, espe- cially altar cloths and the prac- tice of shrouding the dead.
