As Shakespeare's last play, The Tempest tells the story of power struggles, magic and love on a remote island, and will be given a unique twist in the MADC production with a female playing the tradition- ally male lead role of Prospero – now, Prospera. THE TEM- PEST will be performed at San Anton Gardens, Attard on 29, 30 June and 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 July 2019, with all shows starting at 8.30pm. Opening night tickets at only Euro15. UNTIL JULY 12 Pope Joan This July Teatru Malta to- gether with the Malta Inter- national Arts Festival will be presenting the highly an- ticipated summer produc- tion Pope Joan at the Mdina Ditch on the 6, 7, 9, 10, 11 and 12th. This exciting open air show has been in the works for months with lead actress Maria Buckle rehearsing to- gether with the rest of the talented cast to tell the story of a prodigy who chooses to defy all odds by challenging the highly conservative male dominated society she was born into. Joan is a defiant and determined female who will stop at nothing to acquire the knowledge she's been so unfairly denied of. Music JULY 9 Dream Theater Rock 'N Malta presents progressive metal pioneers Dream Theater, promising a unique, complex yet melod- ic, hard yet emotional brand of rock which is as sweet on the heart as it is crushing on the bones. Fans can expect a startlingly sublime synthesis of soaring and unmistakable melodies and the virtuoso guitar playing of John Petruc- ci in a live performance that is big, long and diverse as only Dream Theater can make it. JULY 18 Liam Gallagher Live in Malta If you had to make an equa- tion of all the elements that made the early Oasis singles so apocalyptically good - i.e. huge waves of guitar hooks + melo- dy you can't shake for…ever + thunderous rhythm + LIAM GALLAGHER'S VOICE deliv- ering an unbelievably catchy chorus - then Wall Of Glass fits in the lineage perfectly. It's hard to recall a time he's sung better - it's like hearing him for the first time again, the same yearning menace that claimed a million hearts by the end of Supersonic's first chorus. His voice is definitely on point. Date: Thursday 18th July. Venue: Il-Fosos.Doors Open: 7pm. JULY 19 Il Volo Live On 19 July, Il Volo will be at the Malta Fairs and Conven- tions Centre in Malta and on the 23 July at the Teatro An- tico in Taormina.
