Sliema created the first danger after 17 minutes when Seydou Sow served youngster Alexander Satariano who had his shot from outside the box deviated into a corner from Santa Lucia shot- stopper, Ryan Caruana. It was only in the 42nd minute that Santa Lucia responded and were very unlucky not to equalise the score when off a cross from De Jesus towards Kevin Ante Rosero, the latter had his header hit the crossbar. But only a minute after it was Sliema who opened the scoring amount when Edmond Agius served Seydou Sow who on his part served veteran John Mintoff who saw his diagonal shot ending at the back of the net. In the opening minutes of the second half, the Wanderers continued where they had left at the end of the first one and in the 48th minute doubled the score when Edmond Agius passed the ball towards Yuri Cisotti who from an ideal position fired a strong shot which ended behind goalie Ryan Caruana. In the 78th minute, Sliema opened a three-goal advantage to make certain of the maximum points when Yuri Ci- sotti delivered a corner towards Kurt Shaw who didn't manage to make con- tact with the ball, which ended in Pe- ter Xuereb's feet, who slotted the ball home. It seemed that the Blues weren't happy enough with that score as in the 90th minute, they scored the fourth goal when John Mintoff delivered a perfect cross towards Juri Cisotti who had a close header ending up in the net, and hence the Italian registered a brace.
