G4S Malta promotes responsible driving Safety and security on the road are always important, independent from the time of the year. Extra awareness and more commitment by all drivers is needed because sensible driving avoids endangering situations both for the drivers themselves and others. In line with this, G4S Security Serv- ices (Malta) Ltd has just enacted a number of internal initiatives within the company to encourage its employ- ees to be more aware and responsible when driving. "We are all responsible on the road and a little carelessness can have seri- ous consequences and repercussions on all involved. G4S has always given the top priority to safety and security at all levels and this is why we con- stantly deliver refresher courses to all our drivers and personnel. In fact we have just introduced a new set of safety procedures involving all our vehicles and delivered a new train- ing programme within the company," said Julian Dimech, Managing Direc- tor of G4S Malta. "With approximately 8,000 vehicles across the European region and G4S employees on the road at all times of night and day, the company seeks the help and commitment of all its employees to achieve a safer environ- ment. We care for all our employees and we want to do everything we can to ensure that all of them, especially those who drive on company busi- ness, return safely at the end of every shift. Ensuring the safest driving pro- cedures amongst all employees is the first step in the new and improved H&S procedures triggered by G4S on an international level," added Julian Dimech. The training programme conduct- ed over the past weeks, involved a series of lectures with the aim in in- troducing safety driving awareness to all our drivers, and how best to avoid accidents. "This initiative will undoubtedly lead to an increase in the efficiency of our operations, whilst safeguarding our employees. G4S Malta employs over 730 people, all specialized in their respective responsibilities. Yet, our commitment to safety and securi- ty is very high across all the company in fact our employees are constantly attending regular courses. Over the past year, over 300 employees of G4S have undergone specific training, through a continuous employee pro- fessional development exercise that the company has in place for its staff," concluded Julian Dimech. GO Cares Employee Fund supports animal sanctuaries AS part of its on-going commitment towards promoting an active and healthy lifestyle, GasanMamo Insur- ance organised a Diabetes Awareness event in collaboration with the Mal- tese Diabetes Association, Pharma- chemic Limited and Abbott Diabetes Care at their Head Office in Gżira, on Wednesday 7 January. Moira Grixti from the Diabetes & Endocrine Centre of Mater Dei Hos- pital, tested the blood sugar levels of all those employees and customers who showed interest. "The New Year brings with it new hopes and dreams and we thought that promoting health awareness amongst our employees and custom- ers would help to start off the year on the right track," said Mark Mamo, General Manager at GasanMamo. THE GO Cares Employee Fund to which GO staff contribute volun- tarily from their salaries throughout the year, has presented donations to three animal welfare sanctuaries; SPCA Malta, the Association for Abandoned Animals (AAA) and Animal Care Malta. Josephine Grima, Senior Manager – HR Operations at GO, said, "All three sanctuaries which the GO Cares Employee Fund is supporting do a great deal to care for hundreds of stray and abandoned animals and depend solely on donations and vol- untary support to keep going. Many GO employees contribute a small sum from their salary every month as a donation to the Fund, enabling us to provide support to various good causes throughout the year." SPCA Malta and AAA care for stray and abandoned animals across Malta with the aim of find- ing new homes for them. Animal Care Malta is focused specifically on the welfare of stray cats in Mel- lieha. All three organisations work to improve the welfare of animals through veterinary care and neu- tering. "What every individual employee contributes might not be much, but as a team, year after year GO man- ages to substantially aid entities like these sanctuaries. We hope that our financial aid has given our furry friends the care they deserve, and their volunteers much needed as- sistance," concluded Ms Grima. (SPCA): The GO Cares Employee Fund team together with Miriam Casha (right, kneeling), Home Manager at SPCA Malta Argus Group, the parent organisa- tion of Argus Insurance Agencies Limited (AIAL), recently announced a net profit of $10.6 million for the six months to 30 September 2014, declaring a dividend of seven cents per share. The Group's total assets in- creased to $2.1 billion. AIAL Chief Executive Vanessa Borg said, "This latest set of positive results further strengthens the ability of Ar- gus in Malta to leverage the skills and resources of the Group to continue developing our product portfolio and service offering to customers. This will remain a central pillar of our strategy as we continue to build on our heritage of providing insurance in Malta for half a century." AIAL's focus on preserving its Mal- tese heritage whilst looking to the future was one of the main themes at a recent lunch organised by Ar- gus to honour the company's longest standing customer, Edwin Mamo, and longest serving Executive, Albert Cardona. Mamo said, "I have been privileged to be a client of Argus Insurance Agencies Limited, formerly Fogg In- surance Agencies Ltd, for nearly fifty years. The management and staff have always been efficient, innova- tive and responsive to my needs and I would like to thank them for their service." Cardona, a Senior Commercial Manager & Director at AIAL, who has been with the Company for 41 years, said, "Being part of the company for more than four decades, I've obvious- ly seen a lot of changes but one thing which has been constant has been our respect towards the clients, building and sustaining a rapport with them. It's this approach which has kept us as the forefront of the insurance busi- ness and secured the loyalty of cus- tomers like Mr Mamo." The latest set of Argus Group re- sults also revealed an increase in net premiums earned of 18 per cent, or $11.3 million, compared with the pre- vious year. Shareholders' equity attributable to shareholders of the company also increased to $115.2 million, substan- tially in excess of the statutory capi- tal required to conduct the Group's insurance and financial services businesses by the regulatory bodies to whom the Argus Group reports.
