UNTIL JANUARY 27 Dolores Lungaro Mifsud at Villa Bologna Ceramist Dolores Lungaro Mifsud will be showing her work at Villa Bologna, Attard. Lungaro will be exhibiting a selection of her sculptures in the Villa Bologna gift shop and will be onsite twice a week, including Saturdays, creating new sculptures. UNTIL JANUARY 31 Three Artists Amongst the Gods Exhibition of mixed media art at the Old University Campus, St Paul's Street, Valletta. Featuring work by Giuseppe Schembri Bonaci (painting and mixed media), Sina Farrugia (drawings and ceramics) and Anthony Catania (video projection). Organised by the Departments of Classics and Archaeology and History of Art, in collaboration with the Malta Classics Association. THEATRE JANUARY 17, 18 Il-Milied ta' Cupiello An Atturi Salesjani production of the Neapolitan play wright Eduardo De Filippo play at Teatru Salesjan, Sliema from 19:30. The show will be performed using a translation to Maltese by Louis Azzopardi, and will be directed by Arthur Micallef. Tickets at €10 and €5 can be booked from www.ticketline.com.mt. JANUARY 24, 25, 31; FEBRUARY 1 Sawl A Talenti production of the story of St Paul at St James Cavalier, Valletta at 20:00. JANUARY 31 Ix-Xitan Kunjomu Malti Satirical play written and directed by Mario Philip Azzopardi at the Manoel Theatre, Valletta at 20:00. FILM SCREENING JANUARY 14 Kinemastik Film Club Art-cinema collective Kinemastik Film Club resumes its weekly screenings at The British Legion, Melita Street, Valletta at 20:00. Next Wednesday's film will be City of Sadness by Hou Hsiao-hsien. It will be the first in a series of three Chinese films chosen by Hu Wei, and which will be screened at the Film Club during the month of January. PUBLIC TALK JANUARY 21 Interpreting the Symbols on the St John's Co-Cathedral tombstones Flimkien Ghal Ambjent Ahjar talk by Dane Munro at Corinthia Palace Hotel, Attard at 18:30. Using digital photo enhancing, Munro, an authority on St John's marbles, and author of the definitive book Memento Mori, will reveal all regarding the complex symbolic iconography on the marble tombstones and monuments of St John's Co- Cathedral. WHAT'S ON Arts Council collecting data on 2015 cultural events 56 newly qualified proofreaders of Maltese Arts Council Malta (ACM) is in the process of col- lecting data on cultural events that are scheduled for April, May and June 2015. Cultural/artistic event organisers are kindly requested to send details of activities scheduled for April, May and June 2015. Organisers are also kindly requested to send a three-line description of each respective event (pref- erably in English). Please clearly indicate date, time and venue of event. The write-up must be in Word format. More information may be obtained from Isabelle Gatt by calling 2339 7046 Fifty-six students were recently awarded the Univer- sity's Certificate of Proofreading in Maltese and the Proofreading Warrant from the National Council for the Maltese Language, after completing the one-year course in proofreading Maltese. Forty-one proofread- ers attended the course in Malta while 15 followed the course at the Gozo Campus in Xewkija. In all, 309 proofreaders have completed this part- time course since it started in 2006. The next course will start in February at the University of Malta and also at the Gozo Campus in Xewkija, provided there is a sufficient number of qualified applicants.
