maltatoday, SUNDAY, 5 JULY 2015 This Week 33 MTV and The Malta Tourism Authority on Friday revealed that 2015's breakthrough sensation OMI will be the fifth and final per- former to complete the line-up at next week's free live music festi- val – Isle of MTV Malta. The star behind this year's summer anthem 'Cheerleader' is joining a line-up including Jason Derulo, Echosmith, Tori Kelly and DJ Martin Garrix. Delivered in partnership with Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) and sponsored by MuseAmi's popular 'singing selfie' social me- dia app Hook'd – the night of live music will celebrate its ninth con- secutive year in Malta on Tuesday July 7 at Il-Fosos Square, Floriana. Since releasing the year's biggest summer smash 'Cheerleader' in May 2015, breakthrough star OMI has dominated playlists around the world, topping the charts at No 1 in more than 55 markets – includ- ing a four-week run at No 1 in the UK – as well as notching up more than 270 million Spotify streams. As one of this year's most exciting new artists, the star is set to daz- zle the 50,000 strong Malta crowd with his distinctive style urban- pop, packed full with house beats, trumpets and samba rhythms. "Monumental is just one of the words that I can think of to de- scribe the experience of perform- ing at Isle of MTV Malta. I'm very humbled and I'm looking forward to this being the first of many," OMI said. "We're thrilled to add OMI to our Isle of MTV line-up in Malta. As the artist behind one of this year's biggest summer anthems, he's an incredibly exciting addi- tion," Bruce Gillmer, EVP, Talent & Music Programming and Events, VIMN commented. Previous performers at the mu- sic festival have included Nicole Scherzinger, Jesse J, Lady Gaga, Will.i.am, Rita Ora, Snoop Dogg, LMFAO, David Guetta, Nelly Fur- tado, Kid Rock, The Scissor Sis- ters, Flo Rida, Far East Movement, Maroon 5, Kelis, Enrique Iglesias, N*E*R*D and OneRepublic. The open-air concert will be filmed and edited into a 60-minute special that will broadcast across 20 MTV channels throughout Eu- rope from August 1. BIRGU – in a city which has gone through changes and yet maintains a majestic and historical presence, centuries of lives lived and stories told still linger. Photographer Jacob Sammut and poet Miriam Calleja aim to capture this moment in time with the exhibition 'Birgu – Will You Remember?'. The images and feelings in Birgu as they are now will be portrayed in the renovated Auberge de France as sets of pho- tographs and poems combined together by the artists. These vis- ual sets will take you on a journey through Birgu as experienced by the locals and other onlookers. The exhibition will be launched on July 20 in the foyer at Auberge de France in Hilda Tabone Street, Birgu and may be viewed during the Birgu local council's opening hours until August 3. The local council's opening hours are from Monday to Friday from 08:00 – 12:30, 13:15-16:45 and Saturday from – 08:00-12:00.
