Events 47 maltatoday, Sunday, 5 July 2015 The Marsovin Summer Wine Festival 2015 Vodafone lends a helping hand at St Joseph's Home The new concept Cheeky Monkey Gastropub swings in On 10, 11, and 12 July at 8pm un- til 01:00am, Marsovin is plan- ning to hold the eight edition of their Wine Festival at Hastings gardens in Valletta. The Marsovin Summer Wine festival is set to be a wine festi- val with a difference The location alone lends itself perfectly, to a walk through gar- den wine festival whilst enjoy- ing the majestic views from the Valletta bastions, overlooking the Yacht Marina and Sliema harbour. The event plans to have a highly cultural and entertaining concept, by presenting a myriad of professional musicians per- forming daily, whilst offering a vast selection of over 30 cer- tified D.O.K and I.Ġ.T qual- ity wines from grapes grown around Malta and Gozo. All of these wines can be en- joyed by visiting the different wine bars spread around Hast- ings Gardens. The event has always adopted a token system in exchange of wine, this en- courages patrons to taste and enjoy the large variety of quality wines made available, without over consuming. A fusion of good wine, food and music. A few of the artists in this year's line-up include Malta's leading bands: Red Electrick, giving an unplugged acoustic set; Airport Impressions, one of the most successful bands to have emerged locally in recent years; The Creepers, a cutting edge vintage blues band; & Ka- zinska a talented seven-piece ensemble giving their own cool interpretation of 'banda march- es'. More live acts and chill out music are amongst other attrac- tions that we have lined up for each night of this special event. Marsovin has engaged vari- ous restaurants and caterers to showcase their cuisine, offering a small but enticing selection of dishes at very reasonable prices. Renowned Asian fusion restau- rant - Temptasian will be man- ning a sushi bar, Xara Palazzo Bottegin will be setting up for their famous 12 hour smoked pork; Eat Me I'm Famous - will be offering freshly made piz- za on site, Zammeats will be present with premium cold cuts & cheese, Chukkas Grill will be chargrilling a variety of meats, and last but not least Il Carciofo will be preparing an array of mouthwatering traditional fresh pasta & Maltese dishes. How does it work? All those attending the wine festival have the opportunity to purchase a €15 token package fee, which includes a premium festival wine glass to take home and €15 worth of wine tokens, with which one can either taste up to 20 different wines or drink a selection of wines by the glass or by the bottle. Alternatively for those who are not wine drinkers but still want to mingle around and enjoy the live entertainment, a variety of non-alcoholic refreshments will also be available for sale. The department, comprised of over 100 employees, were divided into teams each with a different set of tasks to complete. Tasks included cleaning of the meeting rooms' windows and floor, wash- ing of stairs & corridors, clearing rabble and construction material from Dar Depiro Annex, painting of corridors, corridor beams and the kitchen/living room of the In- dependent Living Area, as well as cooking for the residents. The team did a marvellous job and Fr. Frankie Cini, the director home, commented on their care and attention to detail through- out the day. Foodies and pub-lovers now have an exciting new destina- tion to enjoy, right opposite the Suncrest Resort on the Qawra seafront. The Cheeky Monkey Gas- tropub was officially launched last week, with a lively event for corporate clients and DMCs at the Seashells Re- sort at Suncrest – and it went down a treat! This new gastropub is a unique concept for Malta. It is being run by AX Holdings Ltd and led by AX Holdings Hospitality Director, Claire Zammit Xuereb , who has had years of experience in the hospitality industry. "A gastropub is different to your average pub because there is a real focus on the food as well as the fun," says Zammit Xuereb. "This is def- initely something different for Malta – a place to enjoy a fantastic night out, while also chowing down on really scrumptious food." Aside from the food, there's also a firm focus on the drink, with a vast selec- tion of whiskeys, top-quality beers and signature cock- tails. "To get our patrons in the mood for a fantastic week- end, we're kicking-off the summer with our Cheeky Friday Happy Hours, where drinks are two-for-one from 4-7pm – so that's a brilliant three hours, actually!" con- tinues Zammit Xuereb. The venue itself is modern and hip, and tailored to at- tract a slightly more discern- ing crowd. Patrons will enjoy drinking and dancing indoors or on the terrace overlooking the seafront, with live enter- tainment and performances by top DJs on the weekends. The Cheeky Monkey will also be showing all sporting events live on the big screen, adding to the great-fun atmosphere. "We have certainly tried to come up with something new and exciting, and the focus is firmly on fun. Already our guests are loving the laid-back atmosphere, seafront setting, and, of course, the food – so we we're looking now forward to sharing all that with many more people over the sum- mer," adds Zammit Xuereb.
