Umeh came off the bench to score the winning goal and break Floriana's hearts who can count themselves unlucky to come out of the derby empty handed. The Greens took the lead after 19 minutes when the prolific Ar- gentinian striker Mauricio Villa scored from the spot after his side was awarded a penalty for a foul on Matteo Picciolo. Floriana's Italian striker went close to double on two occasions in the second half but both of his attempts hit the woodwork. On 52 minutes, Picciolo – the game's best player – saw a long- range effort hit the crossbar. Three minutes later he was once again denied by the crossbar from a close-range header. Valletta levelled matters on the 69th minute when Brazilian playmaker Jhonnattann Benites da Conceicao exchanged the ball with Roderick Briffa who served him with an intelligent through- ball and the striker managed to slot the ball past Floriana's goal- keeper Matthew Calleja Cremo- na from close range. As the game was edging to- wards a draw, the Citizens snatched a famous victory four minutes from time when Umeh's hard shot breached the Greens's goal for a second time to send City supporters into raptures.
