maltatoday, SUNDAY, 24 JANUARY 2016 X Gaming in Malta New Data Centre and a 40Gbps connectivity for BMIT BMIT, Malta's leading provider of data centre, cloud and managed IT services, has just announced the completion of two major investments, which are posed to drastically enhance Malta's offering as a jurisdiction of choice to several industries, including online gaming and financial services operators. These are the opening of a data centre in SmartC- ity Malta and the launch of a new exclu- sive and secure private network which will provide BMIT customers with very high speed connectivity and perform- ance to the Internet. This one-of-a-kind network links BMIT's locations in Malta to its newly- launched points of presence in Italy and Germany and provides 40Gbps con- nectivity to the Internet, via two leading Tier 1 global providers – Level 3 and TeliaSonera. Over the years BMIT has also es- tablished itself as Malta's largest and most experienced IT services provider of services to industries who have high dependency on being online all-time, such as iGaming, financial services, communications and similar-type seg- ments – initially as a co-location and hosting services provider and more recently also as a provider of an exten- sive range of cloud and managed IT services. These investments further enhance BMIT's leadership in the local market in these critical business segments. New Data Centre in SmartCity BMIT has just announced that their newest data centre in Malta has now reached its final stages of completion, with all the installed infrastructure cur- rently undergoing rigorous testing prior to launch. Over 150 racks have already been put in place at this new facility located within SmartCity Malta, which is rapidly becoming a business hotspot on the island thanks to the influx of customers setting up shop there. This new data centre further consoli- dates BMIT's position as the only multi- site data centre provider on the island and opens new options for Malta-based operators wishing to have local geo- graphical redundancy across locations. BMIT operates the only privately-owned ISO27001-certified datacentres in Malta, therefore guaranteeing additional peace of mind to customers using any of BMIT's services or facilities. New customers will start moving in the new facility in the next few days, with others following soon after, as BMIT is experiencing unprecedented interest in this new data centre. New network infrastructure BMIT has also just launched a new, high capacity and exclusive network connecting their data centres in Malta to mainland Europe and to leading Internet providers worldwide. BMIT customers can now benefit from up to 40Gbps of dedicated internet connectiv- ity, as well as a superior, multi-tiered DDOS detection and mitigation service. This new network completes a major multi-million investment programme by the Malta-based company, enabling customers to host infrastructure both in Malta and mainland Europe, having now established points of presence in Italy and Germany. The new network and the superior 40Gbps connectivity to the Internet put BMIT and Malta on a completely new level in terms of tech- nology infrastructure and connectivity since BMIT customers can, can now benefit from massive speeds, improved reliability and unparalleled performance when operating out of any BMIT data centre. From the data centre to the desktop The effective and efficient manage- ment of information technology has become one of the cornerstones of any successful online operator, as the need to handle massive amounts of data and deliver a timely and personalized service to customers all over the world became prime prerequisites for suc- cess. As these changing requirements become more critical to customers, BMIT, as an ISO 27001 and also PCI DSS certified IT services provider, have recently expanded their portfolio of services, from data centre, cloud and managed IT services, to now addition- ally also include a complete suite of services catering for on premise IT requirements. Such services are being offered directly or through expert part- ners, who together with BMIT, propose and execute personalised and custom- ised solutions, depending on specific customer requirements. These new services are coupled with expert support from a technical team, available 24x7, and trained to provide an all-round support to customers. Over 150 racks have already been put in place at this new facility located within SmartCity Malta, which is rapidly becoming a business hotspot on the island
