The 2-0 victory was the Citizens' eleventh con- secutive win in their relentless march towards the title. Despite Valletta's clear superi- ority, Tarxien had a good spell early in the game, with Luke Montebello going close but the powerful striker miscued his shot. As the game progressed Valletta created the better chances and Tarxien rode their luck for most of the first half. One minute be- fore the break, Tarxien's goal- keeper Andrea Cassar pulled off a spectacular double save and two minutes later, a header by Jhonnattan beat Cassar but Dan- iel Zerafa was in the right place at the right time to clear the ball off the goal line. Following the break, Valletta did not have to wait long to break the deadlock when Federico Falcone tapped in from close range after receiving from Abdelkarin Nafti on 48 minutes. Two minutes later, Valletta dou- bled their lead thanks to a great goal by their Tunisian winger Nafti, whose shot gave the Tarx- ien goalkeeper no chance. Valletta could have made it three but Rafael Ledesma hit the foot of the post from the penalty spot after Jhonnattan was brought down inside the area on the 67th minute. As the game drew to an end, Tarxien threatened to pull one back but Nilsson's low effort was pushed away by Henry Bonello who produced another fine save to push Triston Caruana's pow- erful shot over the bar.
