This is part of an agreement which will see the two organisations work together on initiatives that seek to bridge the gap between education and industry. The Bank joins a number of sponsors from various industry sectors in extending financial aid to the Institute that goes towards the organisation of a yearly showcase of student work. "The Exhibition this year prom- ises to celebrate the upcoming generation of artists by exhibit- ing their work, and by creating activities in which the Institute can dialogue with the industry, as well as local and international stakeholders," said Tyrone Gri- ma, Director, MCAST Institute of Creative Arts. Over the years, Banif has pro- vided numerous opportuni- ties to students following Fine Art and Photography courses through specifically designed Life Case projects. These case- studies simulate an industry en- vironment by using real briefs, brand guidelines and targets. The final works, as well as, the artists themselves, are then given prominence in the Bank's collateral, with past projects be- ing featured in the Banif yearly agenda, social media and web- site, branch installations, a terrace mural and a travelling exhibition across its branches, amongst others. "These projects provide in- valuable experience to students, who can get a taste of industry practices and requirements in parallel with their studies," said Karl Dingli, Head of Corporate Services at Banif Bank. "This collaboration ticks many boxes for us. Banif is able to underline its commitment to the community and to the arts whilst strengthening its ties and support to this excellent educa- tional institution. More impor- tantly, we will be doing our part to provide opportunities and ex- posure to the next generation of aspiring artists." The lat- est global research on the finan- cial cost of fraud indicates that losses to fraud and error current- ly average 5.6% of expenditure. Fraud is an ongoing, mostly high volume and low value cost. PKF and the Centre for Counter Fraud Studies (CCFS) at Universi- ty of Portsmouth jointly manage the largest databases in the world concerning resilience to fraud and its measured cost, and this can be used to help businesses to better protect themselves and to reduce cost. PKF and the CCFS have a free on-line self-Assessment Fraud Resilience (SAFR) tool so that PKF can use the information to see how we can help the retailers by mitigating their risk to fraud, saving costs and strengthening their bottom line. Over €700 were raised and will be used to sponsor Reaching Cambodia's haircuts project for the next twelve months. On a monthly basis, Cambo- dian children coming from poor communities in Phnom Penh are provided with a free haircut with the aim of improving their health as well as their appear- ance. This initiative, which sees around 1,000 haircuts given each year, also helps control head lice. Reaching Cambodia is a local voluntary organisation that was set up in 2013 to deliver the basic necessities of life to poor com- munities while embracing their culture. "Getting a haircut is some- thing we take for granted. For these children, however, it is an opportunity to feel better as well as fare better in terms of their hygiene. We couldn't have chosen a more worthy cause to support!", said APS Bank Social Activities Committee member, Janice Harvey. Donations to the organisations can be made via SMS donation or bank deposit. More information can be found on http://reaching- cambodia.com/donate.
