Alan da Silva Souza went past his marker and hit a shot that ended up behind Matthew Farru- gia. Souza was unlucky not to dou- ble the score a minute later. The Brazilian striker went inside the penalty area and fired a shot that hit the post. Balzan doubled the score on the 26th minute when Bojan Kaljevic went inside the penalty area from the left f lank and finished past Farrugia. The Spartans had a good chance to reduce the margin of the score on the 37th minute. Saturday Nanapere sent a cross inside the penalty area that found Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza. Howev- er, the Ħamrun striker fired high. Despite losing this chance, Ħamrun managed to score on the 42nd minute. From a corner, Leandro Motta sent a cross inside the area that was met by Patrick Jean Teixeira Maia whose header hit the post. From the rebound, the same player finished inside the net. Balzan scored their third goal on the 63rd minute. Paul Fenech delivered the ball towards Alfred Effiong, who scored from close range distance. The only chances came thorugh Jean Borg and Jhon- nattann Benites da Conceicao of Valletta who saw their efforts going wide. In the second half, Valletta pushed forward in their attempts to go ahead. Jhonnattann fired a shot that was saved by Andrea Cassar. A few minutes later, the Tarxien goalkeeper was on the alert once more to deny Santiago Malano. Tarxien conceded on the 75th minute. Leandro Aguiree delivered the ball towards Michael Mifsud who went inside the penalty area before firing a volley that gave Cas- sar no chance. Following this result, Valletta kept pace with Birkirkara and Balzan, while Tarxien sit tenth in the table after failing to win in four matches.
