Gżira responded on the 11th minute, when Juan Carlos Cor- balan hit a low shot from the edge of the penalty that sailed slightly wide of the post. On the 21st minute, Louis Rene Zome of Gżira sent a shot on target, but Batusila Kambala neutralised. Four minutes later, the Spar- tans were forced to make an early substitution after Chircop was injured. Jorge Mesqueu Ne- to took his place. Ħamrun went close to dou- ble their advantage on the 33rd minute. Massimiliano Giusti served Saturday Nanapere on the right side of the penalty area and the latter hit a close range shot that went high. An- drew Cohen sent an excellent cross towards Zome who head- ed past Kambala. On the 52nd minute, Cohen sent a shot from distance that ended off target. Two minutes later, Cohen had another opportunity to send Gżira ahead. The veteran mid- fielder received the ball inside the penalty area but fired high. Paiber went on a good run and hit a shot that forced a good save from Borg. Cohen again showed his crea- tive skills on the 77th minute.
