From a free kick, Joseph Farrugia saw his effort going slightly over. Floriana responded on the 9th minute. Maurizio Vella went on a good run down the left f lank and sent a cross inside the pen- alty area towards Amadou Samb who failed to make contact with the ball. On the 11th minute, Aidan Friggieri of St Andrews missed a good chance from an ideal posi- tion as he fired high. On the 47th minute, Floriana were unlucky not to break the deadlock. Andre Scicluna sent a cross towards Ignacio Varela whose header hit the post. From the rebound, Samb headed to- wards goal, but the St Andrews defence managed to block his effort. St Andrews responded on the 66th minute. Ziga Kastrevec hit a shot that went well wide. On the 72nd minute, Ryan Ca- menzuli tried his luck for Flori- ana, but his shot was blocked. On the 7th minute, Triston Caruana went on a good run be- fore delivering the ball towards Nilsson whose shot went wide. Bonello was on the alert to deny Nilsson once more on the 41st minute. The Swedish striker fired a shot which the Birkirkara goal- keeper managed to deflect. Birkirkara scored the winning goal just before half time. From a free kick, Miguel Alba fired a shot that took a deflection off Emerson Marcellina before ending up in- side the net. On the 70th minute, Edmond Agius of Birkirkara sent a shot from a distance which got the best out of Philip Schranz.
