Both teams played very de- fensive football in the first half, with little action in front of goal. Tarxien managed to take the lead just three minutes af- ter the second half started. As Alex Nilsson made his way into Birkirkara's area, Ayrton Azzo- pardi served the latter who then beat goalkeeper Miroslav Kopric to give Tarxien the lead. On the 60th minute, Birkirkara were denied an equaliser when Ryan Camenzuli's effort hit the crossbar. Birkirkara managed to get the equaliser on the 78th minute. Off a corner kick by Ryan Ca- menzuli, Vito Plut headed the ball towards Frank Temile who saw his powerful shot beating goalkeeper Andrea Cassar. Birkirkara started to show their dominance and just two minutes later, they managed to take the lead. Goran Mujanovic advanced to release his shot which went over goalkeeper Andrea Cassar to secure Birkirkara all three points. One minute from time, Sergio Prendes was sent off for hitting a player.
