Balzan started the match in the best way as they took the lead just after seven minutes of play. Dy- lan Grima managed to intercept a bad clearance by goalkeeper Matthew Calleja Cremona and served Alfred Effiong who then went on to beat Calleja Cremona with his shot. Balzan went close to scoring again when Alan da Silba Souza's shot narrowly missed its target. Balzan continued to press Flori- ana and on the 49th minute they doubled their lead. Pedro Calca- do made his way into the area to serve Elkin Serrano Valero who then beat goalkeeper Calleja Cre- mona from close range. Floriana could not find a way to get back into the match with Balzan showing they were the stronger side. Balzan defended well to the end to protect their lead and collect all three points.
