9 Two elderly persons hit by car TWO elderly persons were hos- pitalised for grievous injuries sustained on being hit by a car. The accident happened within the hospital grounds, on the road leading to the main entrance of Mater Dei. The injured man and a woman, both from Tarxien, were aged 69 and 67 respectively. The car involved in the accident is a black Honda Fit, driven by a 35-year-old man from Mtarfa. A photo of the accident broadcast on TVM showed a bag trapped underneath one of the car's front tyres. According to the same news outlet, the woman was pulled out from underneath the car. maltatoday, SUNDAY, 26 FEBRUARY 2017 News Forklift operator pinned against machinery A man operating a forklift got pinned against machinery when he accidentally hit the forklift's lever, the police said in a statement. The worker, 58, was work- ing inside a waste plant in Triq ir-Ramla, Naxxar. Ac- cording to the police, he hit the forklift's lever by mistake, and was pushed against ma- chinery. Man's first outing with chainsaw ends up in grievous injury THE police are investigating an accident in which a man injured his leg whilst operating a chain- saw. The police said that the chain- saw was being used for the first time. The accident happened at 10.15am in San Blas, limits of Sig- giewi.
