17 maltatoday | SUNDAY • 7 APRIL 2019 TECHNOLOGY data us to consistently be at the forefront of the security threat landscape by de- tecting and resolving in- formation security events that we are made aware of, through the deployment of the appropriate tooling designed for this function. Having said all this, we are, however, very much aware that one of the most important ingredients in fostering a stronger cy- ber security posture is the constant effort to educate our user base and the gen- eral public on current cy- ber security issues. The objective is that of providing the necessary knowledge to our users to protect them from these threats, help them detect any cyber-attack attempts before they actually hap- pen and help them recov- er from any undesirable events in case these threats materialise. We place a lot of empha- sis on cooperating and col- laborating with other gov- ernments and with cyber security institutional bod- ies so as to increase and share threat intelligence. Furthermore, we actively support government in the implementation of the National Cyber Security Strategy, in cooperation with other relevant stake- holders, so as to ensure that the intended benefits of this strategy are realised. These efforts cannot be made possible without the agency's ongoing invest- ment in its workforce. Our internal expertise ensures that MITA keeps abreast of the dynamic en- vironment that we operate in and is, therefore, able to devise the best strategies that are then implemented through very advanced and current techniques to pro- tect what is at heart of gov- ernment's ICT operations. Fiorita Sceberras is Manager - Security Governance at MITA We are, however, very much aware that one of the most important ingredients in fostering a stronger cyber security posture is the constant effort to educate our user base and the general public on current cyber security issues
