WHILST the Mediterranean terrain was
a core influence on Andrea Calascione's
first solo exhibition back in 2018, 2019
was a year dedicated to experiencing life
further afield.
She found herself in unfamiliar sur-
roundings which demanded an appreci-
ation of these somewhat rare moments
of solitude, fully immersed in nature.
It is these experiences that have now
inspired a series of works which form
part of her latest exhibition 'Tierra.'
Andrea aims to distil the complexity
of a landscape into its essence. Her ar-
tistic process involves a vigorous study
and exploration of the natural environ-
ment, all the while striving to under-
stand more deeply its formal vitality.
She aims to capture the Earth through
a process of simplifying and translating
both its basic and chaotic elements into
line, form and colour. The exhibited
works invite viewers to get a sense of
the mystifying beauty of nature as ex-
perienced in solitary moments of re-
flection.
The exhibition will be open for one
day only next Sunday at Storeroom in
Ta' Xbiex from 3pm till 11pm.
