maltatoday | SUNDAY • 10 NOVEMBER 2019 21 COMMERCIAL 19 TOWARDS the end of the month, MAPFRE Malta continued to celebrate Pink October by encouraging all employees to come to the office wearing pink in or- der to further raise aware- ness for breast cancer. In addition, a number of Pink October themed muf- fins were given out to all MAPFRE Malta employ- ees as a way of celebrating and further showing sup- port towards the cause. Aside from having treated MAPFRE employees with a delicious dessert, having the muffins decorated with a pink ribbon icing was a great way to reinforce the fact that these were made to help raise awareness for breast cancer amongst the company's employees. Throughout the day, a number of funds amount- ing to over €400 were also collected from several employees, which will be donated to the non-profit organisation called Action for Breast Cancer Founda- tion. The Action for Breast Cancer Foundation have dedicated themselves to providing support and helping those who are struggling with breast can- cer. The non-profit organi- sation collaborates with other entities in order to generate awareness and raise funds, so that both men and women alike may be helped with prevent- ing, battling and surviving breast cancer. In the future, MAPFRE Malta will continue to show support towards the fight against breast cancer by helping to raise aware- ness and encouraging peo- ple to continuously work towards both prevention and a cure. MAPFRE Malta employees celebrate Pink October EMMANUEL Delicata Winemaker is the only Maltese winery to win at the 2019 Emozioni dal Mondo Merlot e Cabernet Insieme wine competition in Bergamo, Italy. Delicata bagged two gold medals and the press prize. The first gold medal went to the out- standing 2017 vintage of Gran Cavalier Merlot, D.O.K. Malta, Superior. This garnet red wine of distinction is full- bodied and packed with fruit flavours. It surprises with that pleasurable dusty and faintly savoury Maltese hallmark to it. Delicata's Cabernet Sauvignon DOK Malta Superior in the winery's Grand Vin de Hauteville collection too amassed a gold medal and it also won the press prize. This barrique-matured, robust Mal- ta-grown Cabernet Sauvignon entices with a sweet and fruity nose and a rich palate filled with light black fruits and true classical varietal character, derived from selected hand-picked grapes and sorted berries. The Emozioni dal Mondo Merlot e Cabernet Insieme contest is organised by the Vignaioli Bergamaschi S.C.A. and only reviews wines made from the three red-skinned grape varieties Mer- lot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The tasting is governed by the Or- ganisation Internationale de la Vigne et du Vin (OIV). Only 30% of the sam- ples submitted can be awarded a med- al and to win a Gold medal the wines must be awarded between 85 to 100 points. The Premio Della Stampa or Press Prize is a special award commended by a special commission of wine journal- ists to a country's highest scoring Gold medal winning wine. 81 wine judges from around the world made up the judging panels of this year's 15th edition of the competi- tion and between them they evaluated 256 samples produced in 27 different countries. The Gran Cavalier and Grand Vin de Hauteville roll of honour is unri- valled in Malta. These boutique wines of Malta just keep on winning on the world stage, having won several awards previously including gold in Bordeaux, the spiritual home of Mer- lot and Cabernet. In the UK, the event was hosted at the Malta High Commission in London, which also saw the participation of Fi- nance Malta as well as John Huber and Associates. Over 80 persons registered for the highly anticipated seminar, with topics covered including residence op- tions ideal for UK nationals, property investments and incentives for UK companies to relocate or co-locate to Malta. The seminar also tackled the subject of Brexit and what makes Malta attractive to UK's high net worth private individu- als and business investors. Malta is one of the first EU member states to have formulated a specific resi- dency plan for UK citizens opting for an attractive EU base after Brexit occurs. This initiative and in particular Malta's strategic positioning on the interna- tional scene, have both had a favourable effect on the local property market. With Frank Salt Real Estate's biannual roadshow to South Africa becoming part of the company's yearly calendar of events, a team of experienced sales consultants, together with our South African representatives and legal advi- sors, travelled to Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban to organise and host a series of free information seminars and private meetings for South African nationals to actively promote Malta, it's lifestyle and residency/citizenship pro- grammes.
