Over 15,000 cus- tomers down- loaded the HSBC Mobile Banking App in less than four months af- ter HSBC Malta launched its mo- bile banking solu- tion. The free app brings the power of HSBC's suite of banking services to smartphones and tablets, ena- bling customers to carry out their banking needs anytime, any- where. The free HSBC mobile banking app packs many of the same fea- tures of HSBC's internet banking platform and has recently been up- graded to offer the simplicity of ac- cessing "Global View", which gives HSBC customers access to HSBC accounts that they hold in other countries. Users can also trans- fer funds to any other third-party HSBC account holders, including those who don't use mobile bank- ing. This feature is unique to HSBC mobile banking. Clint Zammit from Birkirkara was the first customer who accessed the Mobile Banking app on the day that the 15,000th download was record- ed. Whilst expressing his surprise and delight at winning a €100 shop- ping voucher to use at the Point, Zammit said, "I downloaded the app late in the evening and started using it immediately. I loved the fact that the app is user-friendly and allows me to take control of my fi- nances around the clock. It gives me the power to conduct certain trans- actions that would have required me to go to a branch." HSBC Malta Head of Retail Bank- ing & Wealth Management Paul Steel said: "Our mobile digital solution effortlessly in- tegrates into the busy life- styles of our customers and allows them to manage their finances in a simple, secure and efficient manner." The HSBC Malta mobile banking app is available to download for iPhone, iPad and Android smartphones. To use the app, customers must be an HSBC Personal Internet Bank- ing user. Customers can register for HSBC's free Personal Internet Banking at www.hsbc.com.mt. To make mobile banking more convenient customers do not always need to use their Internet Bank- ing Secure Key. Students forming 12 teams from University, Mcast and St Martin's Institute have enrolled in Hyundai's 'Brilliant Young Entrepreneurs', a competition run by Hyundai Eu- rope in partnership with Junior Achievement Young Enterprise MALTA (JA-YE). This competition will finally see 19 start-ups from 17 participating countries in Europe competing for Hyundai's prize. The competition was open to all tertiary students and is being en- dorsed by the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy to- gether with Degree Plus. The com- peting student teams will be creat- ing an innovative and marketable idea that can become a productive venture. Hyundai Europe will be of- fering seed capital of €15000 to 'fuel inject' the lucky winners of the Bye Award. This will definitely give a kick-start to the lucky company and help establish operations. In Malta, Hyundai is supporting this competition through a number of mentoring events with the in- volvement of key management from Hyundai Malta who have already addressed the participating students during the first event held recently. The teams participating in this competition are currently prepar- ing themselves to face their first judging panel on the 31 January. This stage is expected to give a head start to the judging process for the Bye Award because through this early interview, Hyundai and the organisers will be better positioned to understand what the participat- ing teams are proposing and can interact with the teams as necessary building up a relationship towards the finals. "In a current scenario of shifting economies and employment mi- gration, entrepreneurial skills are rated significantly high where ca- reer moves are concerned. Instill- ing entrepreneurial skills not only adds value to students' academic knowledge but it also equips them for their future prospects. This is why learning by doing is the principal by which all students should develop their careers and this is the ultimate mission of Jun- ior Achievement (Young Enterprise) Malta Foundation which this year has introduced a new Start Up pro- gramme to promote entrepreneur- ship education amongst tertiary students," explains Lorna Farrugia from Junior Achievement (Young Enterprise) Malta Foundation. "These young students have an entrepreneur streak in them and we want to encourage them to embark on this new and exciting journey to turn their dream into a reality. We are delighted to be adding a local flavour to this European competi- tion and we are proud to be col- laborating with Junior Achievement Malta Foundation on this new ini- tiative," said Francesca Mamo, from Hyundai Malta. "Hyundai's "Live Brilliant" con- cept seeks to humanize the brand by identifying with raw emotions inherent in all people. By explor- ing concepts such as love, friend- ship, the self and family, the cars are portrayed as being much more than just modes of transport. These are the values that Hyundai wants to communicate and thinking this way allows us to create a real con- nection with our consumers and making them customers for life," added Francesca Mamo.
