Events 27 maltatoday, Sunday, 29 March 2015 Design Hub Malta takes on two restaurant projects Salt is a newly fully refurbished restaurant located on Pioneer Road, Bugibba offering a delectable a la carte menu. The existing restaurant was a steak house, which had a particular décor that needed changing for new client aspirations. The client requested to have the restaurant called Salt and leave the rest to Sean Cassar, lead designer and owner of Design Hub Malta. Design Hub Malta was contracted to create the logo together with brand establishment, exterior and interior design including custom built furniture and fittings. Design Hub Malta's first priority as a company is to deliver aestheti- cally pleasing, functional, afford- able interior and exterior design solutions. Both local and foreign clients are welcome to a selection of design packages dependent on the client's intentions budgets and briefs. These may range from building a property from scratch and taking it to the fi- nal design stages, or simply, re-de- signing one particular room within an existing space. Steered by varied clients' aspira- tions, as well as their widespread ex- periences, the firm designs exteriors and interiors, which allow clients to fully express what they are about and what holds meaning to them. Catering establishment concepts and designs are offered to customers as a package. The package includes creating the concept logo and brand identity dependant as per client's re- quirements. The exterior and inte- rior design and space allocation are also determined, benefitting from a holistic brand design approach. We decided to focus creativity and concept on the curious pink Hima- layan and black lava salt varieties. This particular concept features within the brand establishment, exterior and interior design of the whole space. There are many dif- ferent quirky features that depicts both the salt in its solid, course and molecular state. One will figure them out dependent on where they are seated within the space whilst enjoying a totally different concep- tual experience and view. Restaurant features a reception area, bar, wine cellar, lounge area, fixed seating areas, enclosed private dining and a mezzanine VIP dining area and more. Another project was Tosca, an ex- isting restaurant running from the Solana Hotel Mellieha. The food was always held to very high stand- ards, exploring new twists within the mouth-watering Italian cuisine. A couple of months back, the inte- rior lacked a coherent concept and ambience. Sean Cassar, lead design- er and owner of Design Hub Malta was contracted to re-design the logo, create a new corporate iden- tity for the same name 'Tosca' and follow through with the interior and exterior design including all custom furniture and fittings. The newly re-structured design incorporates a healthy selection of fixed seating and loose seating op- tions. Areas may give groups or couple an increased sense of privacy and a different experiences on re- turn visits. The proposed design also address- es the open glass kitchen, relating it to the bar and wine storage feature area. Specific materials were used in the space to bring tribute the era of Tosca. Tosca is an opera in three acts by Giacomo Puccini, set to an Italian libretto by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa. It premiered at the Teatro Costanzi in Rome on 14 January, 1900. Within the logo, corporate brand- ing, menu and interior design dif- ferent materials and styles are used to emit a particular aura within the space, whilst not being too clichéd.
