maltatoday, SUNDAY, 21 FEBRUARY 2016 34 Food With each vintage release the cool- climate Bin 128 Coonawarra Shiraz provides aninteresting counterpoint to the more opulentand richly concentrated warm-climateKalimna Bin 28 Shiraz. Bin 128 comprises fruit sourced from the unique cigar shaped terra rossa soils of Coonawarra, a region that exemplifies the perfume, transparency and seductive nature of cool-climate red table wines. Coonawarra has remained the primary source of Shiraz fruit for Bin 128 since the inaugural release of the 1962 vintage. In order to further enhance the regional qualities of Bin 128, the wine is matured in a mixture of new and seasoned French oak hogsheads for 12 months, a method that was refined during the 1980's when the transition was made from American to French oak. 2013 Bin 128 'Coonawarra Shiraz' Penfolds, Australia Exclusively imported by Charles Grech & Co. The name derives from the philosophy of food being food for body, mind and soul. At Soul Food's you will find recipes that perfectly combine cereals and seeds, herbs and spices with good quality and fresh natural ingredients, all dishes are hand-made from scratch – buying and making food responsibly is a must at Soul Food. The idea was born from the urge to combine the variety of Italian regional foods with a vegan and vegetarian alter- native and that's what this spot has to offer: a place where food, soul and body wellness can meet. Food is prepared in an open-plan kitchen and the environment is very wel- coming. The walls are painted in warm shades with a predom- inance of green and sapphire and the furniture is original and natural. The atmosphere is intimate and infor- mal and makes you feel like you're right at home. It's a heaven's corner where you can listen to good music while en- joying healthy and tasty food, deep in the striking setting of other times like only Valletta can offer. A pleasant lunch in this restaurant will help you to take a break from the chaotic city. This place offers discounted pric- es for nearby office workers and a take away service, with the everyday alterna- tive of regional Italian dishes originally made with ingredients imported from Italy. On Sundays you can sit outside and drink coffees, fresh smoothies, soy cap- puccinos, teas and infuses and taste homemade vegan puddings and cakes or simply have a brunch with friends whilst sipping organic wine. Reservations are recommended Sunday lunch time. Soul Food is not just a café and a res- taurant, it's also an evolving cultural spot to discover thanks to wine tasting nights and photo exhibitions. The room upstairs can welcome also groups for private parties or business lunches with accorded menu. Soul Food offers also dishes for celiacs and people with food intolerances. Our body is part of nature and if we eat well our body will feel and look great too! Soul Food 76, Merchants Street, Valletta.
