7 maltatoday | SUNDAY • 8 JULY 2018 TV, MUSIC AND BOOKS Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Florida Georgia Line Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom It's been three years since theme park and luxury resort Ju- rassic World was destroyed by dinosaurs out of containment. Isla Nublar now sits abandoned by humans while the surviv- ing dinosaurs fend for themselves in the jungles. When the island's dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event. Owen is driven to fi nd Blue, his lead raptor that is still missing in the wild, and Claire has grown a respect for these creatures she now makes her mission. Prison Break This hit drama revolving around two brothers and a secret plot to help an innocent man break out of prison aired its fi fth season last year. The renewed interest in "Prison Break" for 2018 is likely due to reports that a "new iteration" of the show is in the works. Stranger Things One of Netfl ix's greatest successes has been the beloved '80s nostalgia-driven show "Stranger Things," which follows the story of a super-powered young girl and a small town under siege by mysterious forces. The second season of "Stranger Things" premiered on Netfl ix last autumn, and the third season is currently in production. Florida Georgia Line By Florida Georgia Line Florida Georgia Line came out of nowhere in 2012 to become the biggest country group of the new decade. The vehicle of their success was "Cruise," a slick, shimmering ode to the wide-open road that became an unkillable crossover hit in 2013 and, eventually, the biggest country single of all time. After "Cruise" broke through on its own merits, reaching 16 on the Billboard Hot 100, its life was extended thanks to a remix featuring rapper Nelly. No tears left to cry Ariana Grande A television star turned pop diva, Ariana Grande emerged in the mid-2010s as an heir to the throne of Mariah Carey. Blessed with powerful vocals that belied her petite frame, Grande had greater singing chops than many of her peers, and her Babyface-produced 2013 debut, Yours Truly, under- scored her debt to '90s soul. Nevertheless, her music was fl exible enough to incorporate hip-hop and EDM, as proved by her 2014 smash hit single "Problem," featuring Iggy Azalea. Evolve Imagine Dragons A Grammy Award-winning alt-rock outfi t with a knack for crafting stylish, stadium-ready anthems as emotionally charged as they are radio-friendly, Las Vegas-based Imagine Dragons had their genesis in Provo, Utah, where vocalist Dan Reynolds met drummer Andrew Tolman while the two attended Brigham Young University. In 2009, the group, which by this time included guitarist Daniel Wayne Sermon, bass player Ben McKee, and Tolman's wife Brittany Tolman on keys and backing vocals, had made a name for itself regionally, and relocated to Reynolds' hometown of Las Vegas to record a pair of well-received EPs (Imagine Dragons and Hell and Silence) at the Killers' Battle Born Studios. Goal, the Official Encyclopaedia of Maltese Football, Volume Six, Carmel Baldacchino Published by Horizons Volume Six of this work by Maltese football historian, Carmel Baldacchino covers the period between 1969 and 1979. Talking as fast as I can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls, and everything in between by Lauren Graham Talking as Fast as I Can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls (and Everything in Between) by ac- tress Lauren Graham is a collection of witty essays about starting out in Hollywood. It's also a love letter to what Graham calls the "role of a lifetime," playing Lorelai Gilmore—first on television's Gilmore Girls and nine years later on the Netflix miniseries Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. Beartown by Fredrik Backman People say Beartown is finished. A tiny community nestled deep in the forest, it is slowly losing ground to the ever-encroaching trees. But down by the lake stands an old ice rink, built genera- tions ago by the working men who founded the town. And that rink is the reason people in Bear- town believe tomorrow will be better than today.
