43 Events maltatoday, SUNDAY, 13 DECEMBER 2015 Shop at Arkadia Group outlets and win a Volkswagen Up THE festive season is all about giving and receiv- ing and to make it spe- cial for its customers, Arkadia Group launched the campaign 'Live it Up This Christmas'. All customers shopping from Arkadia Group in Malta and Gozo will participate in a competi- tion with a prize pool of 10 daily refund vouch- ers (1-100%, 2-50% and 7-25%). The campaign wraps up on Christmas day, when the final grand prize will be drawn and all cus- tomers who would have participated in the initiative during this period would stand a chance to win a Volkswagen UP. Apart from the Por- tomaso Foodstore, the Paceville and Swa- tar FoodExpress, and the shopping complex in Victoria, Gozo, the Arkadia Group includes outlets in the fashion and home sectors. The partic- ipating outlets during the campaign are Peacocks, Ontop, Pearl, Circle A, Boulevard, Urban Jungle in Arkadia Gozo, Parfois, Piazza Italia, Pimkie, Or- say and Suiteblanco. "Since its inception, Arkadia Group has grown significantly and it distinguishes itself by providing anything, from exclusive food items at the Foodstores including the famous British brand Waitrose, to wearable fashion at affordable priz- es for women, men and children, and home- ware," said General Man- ager Antoine Portelli. "We owe our success to our loyal and new cus- tomers who continue to discover our value for money and the campaign is our means to acknowl- edge customers who shop at our outlets." Arkadia customers will receive one competition number for every €10 spent with a max- imum of 100 n u m b e r s on each receipt from all shops belong- ing to Arkadia Group. These numbers will be delivered at the bottom of the cash register chit. Customers will be in- vited to digitally assign their contact details to the numbers on a specifi- cally built website w w w. liveitupxmas.com, where people can also log in for more details and store opening hours. The promotion is valid on all purchases until 24 December and the refund vouchers may be collect- ed and are redeemable by 10 January 2016 from Arkadia Food- store and Arkadia FoodExpress shops in Malta. Until 24 Decem- ber, 10 refund vouchers will be drawn every day. All competition winners will be advised by means of an sms and/or mobile call and/ or email. Winning numbers will also be published daily on Arkadia Facebook page and w w w.liveitupxmas. com. The best Christmas present will be for the winner of the grand prize – a Volkswagen Up by Continental Cars Ltd – which will be draw on the day. HSBC Water Programme – Catch the Drop has inaugurated its first ever project featuring a Local Council in Malta after helping to repair a water culvert leading to a popular community recreational centre in Lija. So far, the three-year environ- mental and educational cam- paign had celebrated a number of water conservation projects at schools, making this project in Lija a first at the local council level in Malta. Rotary in Malta issues call for applications for scholarship worth $30,000 The Rotary Clubs of the Mal- tese Islands have jointly issued a call for applications for a Ro- tary Scholarship worth $30,000 for international, post-graduate studies (preferably Masters or Ph.D.) during the 2016-2017 academic year, applicable to res- idents of Malta and Gozo. This scholarship is one of the most generous scholarships available locally. Scholarships are available for study in one of Rotary Foun- dation's areas of focus, namely Peace and Conflict Prevention/ Resolution, Disease prevention and treatment, Water and other sanitation, Maternal and child health, Literacy and basic edu- cation, and Economic and com- munity development. Scholar- ships range from one to four years and therefore can include an entire degree programme and can cover tuition, travel and accommodation. The Rotary Foundation is the world's largest private donor of scholarships, with 800 scholar- ships granted worldwide annu- ally. Rotary, active in Malta for 48 years, is a service club which enables members to provide services to the community and has supported many organisa- tions, such as Dar il-Kaptan, the Ghabex Centre and Caritas, among others. HSBC Water Programme seeps down to local councils Medina Restaurant wins Best Overall Restaurant for second year running AS they approach their 20th Anniversary, The Definitive(ly) Good Guide to Restaurants Awards Ceremony, sponsored by HSBC, held at the InterConti- nental Arena Conference Centre on Tuesday 8 December, cele- brated the outstanding achieve- ment of Malta & Gozo's top sur- vey rated restaurants as voted by diners out who participated in the Malta & Gozo Restaurant Survey online at w w w.restau- rantsmalta.com. Based on popular vote, only 150 restaurants will be included in the latest 2016 edition of The Definitive(ly) Good Guide to Restaurants in Malta & Gozo and its official portal w w w.res- taurantsmalta.com The results were revealed by Lisa Grech, managing direc- tor of the Definitive(ly) Good Guide Co and presented by the Parliamentary Secretary for Ag- riculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights Roderick Galdes, Andrew Forbes from HSBC and Alfred Cuschieri, of Continental Pur- chasing on behalf of Villeroy & Boch, who supplied the beauti- ful commemorative award plates for the occasion. This year's Malta & Gozo Res- taurant Survey was conducted in September 2015 and returned an incredibly high number of re- sponses, with 1,973 participants who dined out on average twice per week, equivalent to a total of 205,192 dining experiences in a year! Awarded restaurants were chosen from the highest rated restaurants, both overall and in the various price categories for Malta and Gozo, taking into ac- count not only the Overall rat- ing but also individual Food, Service and Ambience ratings, the number of people rating, value for money, comments and other data from the survey.
